i am minig electroneum with my laptops . the reward is not big in fiat but when i start mining eth it was 7$ so to the moon

Well, I don't think ETN will reach ETH value levels, but yeah, it has potential to go up x5 at least. I'm thinking to set my rig for Electroneum mining too.

Hi mates,

So basically, for a same mining algorithm family (e.g. cryptonote coins), why should we prefer mining coin X rather than coin Y?

Is it about:
  • the difficulty?
  • the ROI (though related to previous bullet)?
  • the seriousness of the project?
  • the growth potential of the project?

Concrete example: why should we prefer mining ETN over XMR?

Also, could anyone briefly explain how mining difficulty works?

Thanks @all

Just as an experiment I decided to try CPU mining with my Ryzen 7 1700 so I downloaded the Intense Coin wallet with miner. According to https://minecryptonight.net with my hashrate of 210 H/s I should have a daily reward of 65 coins. After a whole year I will have BTC0.01627886!

Biblepay really has it's own algo?? That's interesting..

Also, do the nodes generate income for the holder or are they just for voting??

After 24 hours of mining Intense Coin with my Ryzen 7 1700, I have 46 coins worth a whopping $0.27 USD.  At that rate it will only take 3 years to pay for my processor. Just for giggles I will let it run for a week and then backup the wallet and put it in my safe. Maybe in 10 years 350ish Intense Coins will be worth something.

The integrated miner is not very efficient. With a Ryzen 7 1700 you should get around 600 H/s. Try a proper miner like XMR-Stak.

Thanks, I tried it with XMR-stak mining Monero and was able to get 511 H/s.

I will let that run for a couple of days and see how much BTCMoneroBTC I can capture!

Monero isn't the most profitable coin to mine on CPU at the moment. Once you will see your avarage hashrate, you can check what to mine on this site - http://minecryptonight.net/ .

As a normal computer user, I use to keep my i5 PC for mining in free time.  I found ROI-coin is the best coin to mine and then traded on exchange after 30 days, the return on ROI-coin is very high and roadmap of the coin looks great. https://roi-coin.com

If you need XMR, just mine most profitable cryptonote based coin and exchange with XMR. You will get more Smiley

Wow I just noticed this thread lot of great info here.

If you're interested in ROI coin I can give you some details.

It's CPU only so you don't have to compete with high powered GPU or ASIC.
You can mine straight from the wallet with a mouse click so if you don't know how to set up mining software or mining pool connections this makes things easy.
It is mineable and I am currently able to solo mine it with an i7-3770 which is nothing exotic.

The coin has good staking and stakes a bit different than most coins. It stakes every block on the chain and every users stakes the same percentage so you don't have to compete with wallet weight vs. network weight etc. It also stakes even if the wallet is locked or completely offline

Another thing is the term deposit feature. With this you can term deposit coins from 2 days up to 1 year and the interest payout goes much higher.

You can check out a mining tutorial video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dR2fgqCSJ4Y
