Lately there are not many new CPU coins, so I found an older one. It even has a real world use case, which is currently in use. It is called DMS coin and is used to store document hashes and proof of authenticity. If interested, you can learn more here: https://discord.gg/acfRC4X

CPU mining proofitable only if you have huge numbers of cpu's or you can earn approx 1-3$ per month

Some people say that Ryzen processor is good for CPU mining, is anyone here is using this AMD processor now? Is it profitable? how about the hash power produced by this procie is it okay? If anyone here already using it kindly share your experience with this processor. Thanks

YadaCoin is a really great option for CPU mining. Not tons of competition, listed on SafeTrade (no KYC), and minable using their XMRig Fork.

IMHO, only true solo-cpu-mining coins are pretty for mining because of botnets let's try to convince me otherwise

If you realy like solo CPU-mining, i would suggest Nerva (XNV) More info at: https://getnerva.org/This coin is really about solo CPU-mining. But if you want to make a little bit more profit, I would suggest a different CPU coin. I have tried mining it for a couple of days with one of my Ryzens. This what i noted down back then. • 14 threads • 18 nerva per 24h $0,29 per 24h Prices were a little higher back then i guess. Coingecko says 18 XNV is worth $0,204912 at the moment. NERVA is very hard to mine right now this train has gone $0,29 per 24h from 14 threads - not very good

Ryzen CPUs have several advantages over Intel for CPU mining, most notably price per core and cache per core. It's disadvantages, poor AVX2 and no AVX512, aren't typically needed for "CPU" coins. Coins that benefit from AVX* can usually be mined more efficienty with a GPU. In short Ryzen CPUs are better for the kind of computing that GPUs can't do well, while Intel CPUs are good at computing that GPUs can do better.

My Ryzen 3600 is profitable on XMR, on a daily basis. At the same time, it's running my Bitcoin Node.

My Ryzen 3600 is profitable on XMR, on a daily basis. At the same time, it's running my Bitcoin Node. What is profitable? How much XMR are you earning per 24h? And what is your estimated daily profit (minus electricity). Even $ 10 is already profit

Thanks for the info,
I hope XMR jumps to 100 for you.
0,17 cents profit per day is not a lot.. but profit is profit!
What price did you invest into your PC?
I already had parts (PSU, cooler, SSD/HDD...) and I wanted to split mining from other activities. Mobo: 170€ (Asus X570 so I'll be able to upgrade to XT or Ryzen 4K) Ram: 95€ (DDR4 3733) CPU: 220€. Mined 1.3 XMR and counting. When I'll change the CPU, it'll be plug & play.

I'm not convinced botnets are a big problem. Sure, CPU mining botnets exist but how nuch mining is actually performed by botnets and what effect do they have? I never seen any attempt to quantify. Way back, Vertcoin switched from Lyra2RE to Lyra2REv2 apparently because of botnets. The Lyra2REv2 algo was less friendly to CPUs but more friendly to ASICs. They then switched to Lyra2REv3 which was also quickly taken over by ASICs. They might have been better off to stay with v1. Cryptonight was a more recent botnet scare, miners were being downloaded by web browsers without the users' knowledge or consent, with all mining going to the web site owner. But it wasn't until an ASIC arrived that Monero took action and switched algos. ASICs were obviously a bigger concern for them than botnets.

Though i know currently CPU mining is not much profitable anymore and where Electricity costing been increased day by day here and accessories prices also been increased but if i want to take a test is there anyone who is recently doing this CPU mining and tell me what coin be the best mining option with my Intel i7 8700k ? And also which pool using will be the best option.Thank you!

In overall you could say that, Intel is way better than amd cpu chip am i right? I read lots of discussion about Intel and AMD processor and people argued about their performance in CPU mining, of course there's a lot of opinion, but anyway, thanks to your input.

Hi John, I guess the first think to ask yourself, is what algo do i want to mine.....then we can possibly help you. I mine with a Ryzen 1700 and a 1800X, and find they outperform pretty much all intel desktop cpus....of a similar core count If you use cpuminer-opt, just remember to try the cpuminer-zen option, sometimes it gives better result that the other options, really depends on the algo.... Ideally you need to determine what the main pointer is with your specific algo, is it clock speed bound? memory speed bound? bandwidth bound? cache bound? eg the 3600 although only 6c/12t outperforms my 1800X 8c/16t for certain algos because it has 32mb cache not 16mb, then again a TR 1900 beats both on other algos if you run quad channel ram. Jaydee, if you read this, how's about releasing a version of cpuminer which runs directly off say a usb stick, I don't mean a linux or windows version, rather a dos/machine code executable. that would run at full speed without the overheads associated with an OS (MSDos still works even on Ryzen ssds systems )

Hey guys! Just to let you know that Stellite has rebranded to Scala. In the last year, we have released almost everything that was in our initial Stellite roadmap. You can mine with CPU and ARM devices (Android only). You can find our new BitcoinTalk announcement there: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5275597

You forgot you need internet connection for miner to work ...and to get your LAN working ( i don't even talk about Wifi cards) you need at least simple OS with drivers... Running miner just from usb stick without OS would be tricky.

Have a look at say Symantec (NortoN) recovery stick, or UBCD stick, there are loads of "DOS" type programs out there that can run, go to the net for the latest say virus defs then do a sweep, so it is clearly possible.
