YAC -NovaCoin fork, with modified scrypt hashing
ANC Anoncoin- a coin with I2P support
Cosmoscoin - novacoin with transaction comment (no premine) - (Hybrid of NVC and FLO)
Freecoin - YAC with and transaction comment. (Hybrid of YAC and FLO)
XPM PrimeCoin- mining PrimeCoin helps looking for prime numbers, instead of wasting energy. for now cpu-only. (no premine)
I seem to like cosmoscoin and primecoin.

Bitcoin developers are ultraconservative and they have to be such to protect the old money. The only kind of innovations I expect from here are new ways of attacking double SHA2 hash function. |
Of course I gave you bad advice. Good one is way out of your price range.

which coin really does have the best design?
cosmos and diamond?
hobo and bottlecaps?
is quark innovative? does it not hash with 3 different algos?
has any one coin really hit the sweet spot based purely on design?

They ALL SUCK until there is better adoption - IE I can spend them outside of an exchange somehow. |

QRK, XPM and YAC were the biggest innovators imo.
Neocoin will have a funky modded client though.
