i read about this one recently on german newssite followed by an interesting interview on german newsmagazine "Der Spiegel".
though i have my personal problems with the common style of american documentaries
(imo too much use of music & cut-methods to drive emotions and often commenting one-sided towards movies'argumentation instead of letting the audience figure out their own conclusion...by contrast to the socratian method of self-awareness without nearly no manipulation of human senses)
this movie could be interesting for US citizens:

"Inequality for All" (USA 2013) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2215151/)
Documentary by former U.S. Labor Secretary Robert Reich as he looks to raise awareness of the country's widening economic gap. Got much positive feedback at Sundance Festival (yea...doesn't say too much, but it's still a bit like Cannes for foreign viewers like me.)
I haven't seen this movie, so I can't give any critique how well it is made (not available in cinemas in germany), topic sounds interesting not completely sure about Reich's past reputation as I have heard of him for the first time but it's on my watchlist for the future

thanks to LiteCoinGuy for posting another nicely animated vid explaining some of the flaws of the current financial system (narrated by Mike Maloney):

The Biggest Scam In The History Of Mankind

"You are about to learn one of the biggest secrets in the history of the world...it's a secret that has huge effects for everyone who lives on this planet. Most people can feel deep down that something isn't quite right with the world economy, but few know what it is."

Great list to have! thanks. I think Bankers' worst fear is in a seperate category from the other 'shorts' though. it is 16min and a lot more editing and/or not just CG or computer animation

good suggestion.
after doing the talks category yesterday I already thought about splitting the shorts up in explanatory vids (perhaps up to 5min and with sub for animated ones) and more in-depth short documentaries.
I will change it this weekend.

edit: I hope the new categories fit better...also added some new talks

here's another classic:

"Darwin's Nightmare" aka "Darwins Alptraum" (AUT 2004) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0424024/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1)

An eye-opening documentary on the effect of fishing the Nile perch in Tanzania's Lake Victoria.
The predatory fish has wiped out the native species, is transported to European markets as delicatesse while starving Tanzanian families have to make do with the leftovers.
At the same time the area is a important linchpin for importing weapons in that part of africa.

original version (unfortunately decent quality, for full immersion look for some other sources  Wink):

thanks to Zangelbert for this interesting video:
Balaji Srinivasan at Startup School 2013 sharing an interesting theory about the coming future.
His talk isn't mainly about bitcoin but about how future technology can change society and its country as a whole.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOubCHLXT6A

So what do you guys think: is the idea of a "peaceful revolution and shift of power back to the people through use of sound money" viable? What needs to be done to make it possible?

Absolutely. The Internet has been a peaceful revolution on centralized media so far, despite Hollywood and old media throwing a fit and trying some legal shenanigans. These decentralized, anti-fragile systems simply hollow the establishment structures out little by little, without much fanfare.

Bitcoin will incite a much bigger reaction because banks are bigger than media, but there's not a lot that can really be done. No wars will work; centralized power just cannot beat decentralized power. It's too late now anyway, the big-time nerds are jumping aboard the ship:

unfortunately i haven't had too much contact with the creators of most of the movies so far,
but i hope this thread helps a bit as a central place for these projects to spread and support new projects faster.

When someone approaches me in future i will defintively mention your offer.

The name of this guy and his credentials?

thanks for the vid, i'll update the main list.
As mentioned in first post of this thread his name is James D'Angelo and he's one of the cofounders of world bitcoin network channel on youtube.
He is also a cofounder of bitcoin community in Boston, co-organizer of bitcoin meetups in cambridge and a member of positive money on meetup (http://www.meetup.com/members/78541892/)
credentials...well on google i found description "ex NASA engineer / professor" in cached description for the 101 Blackboard series, though no sign of that on youtube (must haven been changed).
I couldn't find any further info via linkedin or other platforms, not checked facebook though (don't have account there). (http://www.linkedin.com/pub/james-d-angelo/80/377/152), but only this local news article:
http://www.wickedlocal.com/brookline/news/x1803284725/Brookline-man-wants-to-turn-local-businesses-on-to-Bitcoin.

Would be nice to have some more info on educational background despite the informative content of his vids.
Perhaps somebody met him in person during a meetup and can help out here?

Good job there OP ! Bitcoin could be the seed for next big revolution, artists are definitely need to share their role in this.
It's possible release of these documentaries might drive the price of Bitcoin in January.
