Project is very real and has powerful use case so being unique on blockchian and first mover's advantage will bring more than expected results. I hope team will raise enough funds to market and develop further features they want to remain ahead of their competitors. Photochain is one of the high profile projects for the year to be watched.

The fact, that there is an actual need for services like that!
besides, we have a bunch of designers, who got instantly excited when they saw this project.

A lot of new solutions will be based on blockchain and p2p protocols. People with vision can see it already now and therefore will participate on the future gains with an advantage.

Yep, exactly this. People want as much benefit to themselves as possible. Decentralized applications will provide the most benefit to its own users, compared to a small handful of people benefiting hugely from all the users on a centralized platform.

Yes!! - you can read all about it and why it is a "big deal" here: https://medium.com/photochain/smart-money-and-due-diligence-why-our-funding-deal-is-significant-3b33a7174a70

It is available here https://demo.photochain.io/#/ or on the homepage photochain.io
Yes it is on the ethereum public testnet. Currently this shows the most important part of a DApp, the actual transaction an its position on both Ethereum and IPFS blockchains.

Any big partnerships worth noting at this point?

What kind of partnerships would be good for a platform like this anyway?

The ideal partner would be a photography sharing site such as Flickr - these communities are untapped in terms of monetizing photographs, and so a partnership one of these would bring both the photographers and those interested in their work.

We also have a partnership already with Copytrack, one of the leaders in digital copyright management. You can read this here: https://medium.com/photochain/photochain-and-copytrack-announce-key-copyright-partnership-2fd05a4923fa

Other types of partners would be those on the buyers, or those on the sellers side. E.g. for the buyers, media outlets who get most of their media from stock photography platforms. And an e.g. for the sellers would be photography communities.

We are following loosely, but then again we cannot be distracted by the uncertainty and the news. We're off the view that whilst some scrutiny on cryptocurrencies is good, an adverse decision affects innovation and we hope that the SEC realizes this. We will be prepared however and react accordingly if need be. Thankfully there are many alternative blockchains that we would be able to work on should we be forced to.

What kind of information would you be getting from contributors? I ask because there is naturally a concern for users uploading copyright images and I'm interested to learn more about how you plan on handling such matters.

I'm not sure this was ever answered.

Our digital copyright chain (DCC) provides an automated and innovative solution. To upload a photo, a user must have their identity verified. Then each uploaded photo is cryptographically hashed into a relatively small code, and this hash is permanently linked to the user who uploaded it. This link forever exists in the blockchain, through the DCC. Each image will have its own unique hash, but if I were to upload the same image twice, it would have the same hash as the pixels of the image are what are used to create the hash.

A trail of ownership is set for every single photo that passes through the platform, based on this hash and its link to the owner.

Then each uploaded image, by every photographer, is scanned against the DCC for copyright infringement, to see if the hash is the same.

As for preventing a buyer from re-distributing the works. As blockchain records and timestamps every transaction, it is always possible to trace who has legal ownership of an image's license and who doesn't. In the case where an image is discovered where the user doesn't have rightful licensing, this is copyright infringement and is illegal!

At this point copyright law comes into place and the user has the possibility to pay huge fines and many other penalties. For Photochain also, our recent copyright partnership with Copytrack.io should help us to further enforce copyright rules off the Photochain platform.
