How often does the price get lower than the ICO price when a new coin is listed on its first exchange house ?

How come there are coins that are worth like 0.0004 $, usually during an ICO one coin is sold in the range of 1$ or not ?

Do some "coins" skip the ICO stage ?

Well I think it would be a better idea to buy during the ICO to support the coin itself also, there are bonuses during this phase. It is true that after the ICO or upon being released to the market, the price of a coin has a chance to dump but the question is how low and will it be able to recover? unlike if uou buy in ICO wherein you may sellbit already upon releasing so that you won't experience the dump. Therefore, profit will be earned.

Doesn't the OP assume that all coins gained in ICOs go on to be listed on exchanges? I don't believe this always happens and this is for any one of a number of reasons:
- the ICO is a flop
- the ICO fails to meet its soft target
- the ICO or the people behind it is/ are a scam
- no exchange wishes to list that particular coin

The Privacy coins will all go up this year.
It's the matter of finding one which is very low and with relatively small Total Supply (less than 100M)!.

It is better to invest in altcoins which has a real and feasible idea.

For example, I found an amazing project related to Anonymous E-Market Place, it is called Ethereum Meta.
That's their official website: http://ethermeta.com/

Bitcointalk: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2659058.0

I strongly believe Ethereum Meta will go to the Moon this year!

At ICO we usually see a very attractive price for altcoyins! Investors are interested in purchasing tokens at this rate! And very often coins are sold in which there are very doubtful names and a further niche of their application! Be attentive!

How often does the price get lower than the ICO price when a new coin is listed on its first exchange house ?
in 2017 there are so many ICO coins that have fallen in price at the first time enter the market, but unlike in 2018 now all ICO coins directly rise many times from the price of ICO at the first time enter the market

all ICO coins have their respective prices there are cheap there is also expensive, $0.0004 could be that is the price of ICO and even the coin that cost $1 could be it is lower than the price of ICO

in previous years a lot of coins that do not use ICO, they just make airdrop (share the coins for free) and coin success in the market, it's common

During this bear market it's better to wait for exchange than buying in ICO. The price on exchange is usually lower than the ICO price, also it's a lot easier to buy on exchange you don't need to pass any KYC. Recently I joined the titanium ICO and the BAR's price was at 1 dollar during the ICO but now it's a lot lower on Etherdelta. But in a bull market, it's better to buy during the ICO but with all the regulation I think it's going to get harder and harder to join legit ICO

In my insight,  if you want to have a thrill or gamble - buy in ICO because with the current state of btc once a new coin hits the market it might not grow yet but for sure once btc catch up the others will follow. However most cases a new coin will pump and dump after months. And if you want to play safe wait on exchange because once the investors dump their coins it will be the perfect time to buy and hold because most developers are consistent in developing their project and for sure it will go up. Better do a research as well so that you will not regret in buying a coin.

it depend on the hype and potential of the ico. for example icos like wabi and icon { ICX } gave more than 5x when it came in to exchange. still they are 5x. so it depend on the ico.

Well it depends on you. During ICOs, when you buy token specially during the early stage they offer 50% bonus on token purchase. There is also a possibility that the token's price will go down after it hit the exchange so it is better to but there. With my experience, i bought token during ICOs.

to avoid scam I suggest to buy later on exchange, I think it will be safer to do because now a lot of scam ico but if you find ico developed by a good team then it is not bad for investment in it

My opinion is! In order to buy coins on the ICO, it is necessary to approach the choice of the company very responsibly! Buying coins for their hard-earned money on ICO, there is a very big risk, because a lot of mosheyniki who just wants to collect the money and run!!! According to this, if you are going to buy coins on the ICO, the first step is the study of the company! You can also earn tokens on the bounty of digging, though not a lot, but then you are wasting your time, not your hard-earned money!!!

I was looking cold to invest in ICO. But then some ICOs have earned so much that I can now invest in robust projects. I have to do very good research.

I noticed that many ICO's offer such bonuses to early investors that in those cases you can expect low prices at EtherDelta or IDEX......

Of course get some on ICO, if you have the chance.
Most hyped ICOs easily get 3x at exchanges. So, pretty easy way to get some profits.
Doing this myself.

Yes! Hype is a very important factor in ICOs but the most hyped coins get listed on exchanges at high price, after a day or two it will show it's real value. This occurs because most of the investors mind would be setted to flip. Example is cargoX which was hyped like shit that too with low cap contribution limit.

Blah blah

Very good question. But here I would like to add the option "or presale". Indeed, there are many projects that at the Presale stage offer a big bonus. When entering the exchange many presale participants on the first day can sell the tokens they bought for x2

if the product has a good project, trusted and promised it would be better to buy in ICO because you will get a big profit.
and vice versa if the product is less reliable would be better to buy it on the stock. we must be careful in buying it if we do not want to lose.

No coin "skips" the ICO process - the token generation events ensures that every token is accounted for in some way or the other.

The way tokens sell under value is: people who receive tokens for work they put forward or contributed early days, sell the tokens for less than the value of the purchase price that buyers entered for. e.g. Advisors etc

Alternatively someone may sell at a loss due to panic/fear

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the world, and lose his own soul?

If you  want to buy a token you should buy early like during the ICO. You can benefit ICO - bonus tokens and earn more tokens.

I think it'd better if you can buy at ICO period cause the price of any coin or token at ICO period is the lowest price beside you also can receive the bonus coin or token if you join ICO project early. Beside there are also some coin don't have ICO like REBL, this token distributed by airdrop and people just need to do some tasks to get free REBL token.
