The traditional proof of work mining will probably stop in future due to efficiency issues. However, the proof of stake "mining" will take over to secure the blockchains without generating waste heat by burning valuable electricity. In this sense, the traditional BTC will probably be dethroned by either a BTC fork or other advanced altcoins. Paradigm is shifting and mining will stop in future.

Never. Equipment and electricity cost I believe are a big part of what sets the price for non-pos coins. I imagine that there may be some revisions, but with things like how coincidentally the hashpower of a gpu is reflective of its RETAIL price while utilizing an algo like Equihash, the essence of POW is here to stay.

In my own opinion mining will never stop because there are always new coins are coming. BTC have 4 million coins that are remaing and I think all of that remaining BTC will be mined after 100 years. From time to time the difficulty to mine the BTC are increasing.

I think most people think that miners do just that: "mining coins". But the thing is that their role in the network of a coin is much bigger than that. Their role is to keep the network secure, and by keeping the network secure I mean, processing the transactions and making sure they are all valid. They get the coins and the fees as a reward for doing just that. So "mining" will never stop, because if it stopped then tx were not processed and verified. They will eventually stop receiving the reward when the coin limit is reached, but they will still receive the fees for making the transactions, and that should still be a good incentive. Don't know how things will be when the lightning network gets deployed, since fees would be minimal. But I guess that we would get huge adoption when the LN arrives, so even minimal fees would be very profitable for miners.

I don't think so because everyone could start mining especially for people which have a big money and a big place and not just the government that wants to try mining. as long as there is any hardware is sold in the shop, then mining will continue and the hardware will launch the newest technology for mining. the government cannot replaced mining from the people but I realize that the government has the unlimited resource than the people so maybe the government will use their resource to mining like what people did.

1 mining will never stop , just from one country to another.
2 I think it should be more valuable when it reaches its limitation.And also it has been dead when it reaches its limitation , most of the limitations take too long to reach.
