I really don't think that ethereum will go beyond bitcoin, considering that bitcoin price are somewhat to be basis of all altcoins prices including Ethereum. It seems to be that when bitcoin price will dump ethereum also will follow, that's why there is no chances that ethereum will not surpasses bitcoin. These to coins making crypto into becoming great and recognized globally and there is no reason that both of them are competing which one will be top.

In some ways ethereum can beat bitcoin like for instance confirmation of transaction. Bitcoin transaction is confirmed in minutes or even longer than that whereas ethereum transaction is confirmed in seconds. So basically ethereum is faster than bitcoin in this area. However, if we compare the prices of these two, bitcoin of course is much higher than ethereum. Furthermore, bitcoin, being the first virtual currency, is widely accepted, more popular and more established compared to its other counterparts. In fact, bitcoin symbolizes the strength of cryptocurrency which means that if its price goes high, the other virtual currencies are, most often than not, go high too. So in a way, ethereum just can't beat bitcoin. It can only come in second.

I think is very hard for Ethereum to beat price of Bitcoin, but we will never know about the question "can ethereum will beat price of bitcoin?" If we look at total supply between bitcoin and Ethereum as many 21 millions and Ethereum have total supply as many 40-70 millions. We can see just from total supply of Ethereum already far from Bitcoin. But this is can't as guatantee because is very many investors like ethereum. And not impossible thing if Ethereum can replace Bitcoin.

There is possibility about that, but in my prediction not in this year, maybe next year. Ethereum was interesting and it support coins that many people choose to invest in alternate coins, new investors pick alternate coins because they don't have to spend a lot and coins its self can be bought in cheap prices that why ethereum as support for the alternate coins would have a competitive price this year.

Yes it can and for me it is more possible that etherum kill bitcoin than bitcoin will pump to the moon and hit like 50k$ (thats what people think will happen).

Ethereum has gone down big time. There is no stability in Ethereum's price. Neither is there stability in Bitcoin nor in the entire market of cryptocurrency. There will be no stability in a market that is very volatile. The fluctuation of the crypto prices will always be ever present because the demand all over the world is constantly moving up and down also. Aside from the demand, the news and the regulatory steps of the governments will always be playing a vital role as well. But in all these movements, Bitcoin will remain to be on the forefront. Ethereum cannot overtake Bitcoin.

Same here fundamentally speaking Ethereum can really Bitcoin but it gonna takes a time to that happen. Once all of the newcomers here realize the technology of each cryptocurrency that's the time they will realize how good ETH was but right now they are only thinking for Bitcoin.

Well, first of all, you must understand that there is no logical comparison among Ethereum and bitcoin.

Bitcoin is created as an alternative to regular money and is thus a medium of payment transaction and store of value, Ethereum is developed as a platform which facilitates peer-to-peer contracts and applications via its own currency vehicle.

If your only sense for comparing both is the market capital, then my answer will be "It could be possible, but it will take years before that happen".
There are a lot many uptrends around Bitcoin, with lightning network coming in place and FOMO money driving in Crypto, the Bitcoin dominance is supposedly to increase back above 50%.

ETH will not surpass the Bitcoin and it will take many years to reach that value, because Bitcoin has potential and the supply of BTC is very low compared to ETH.

The price of ETH drops much faster than that of btc, which means the ETH is not so solid as btc, or there are more support from the btc. So I think there is no much possibility to achieve that goal.

It seems that this year bitcoin will drop to at least 5k, but the fact is that the price of the Ethereum has already dropped almost fourfold. And if there is an increase in the whole market, the air will not overtake bitcoin in any way, even if it remains at the same level, at least this year.

Yes, Already ETH has decreased a lot and the price of ETH is nearly 350$ in the month of August 2017, now it has reached almost there but the market will recover and there is no problem. Now the market cap is kept decreasing so only the price of all coin kept decreasing.

Maybe there is a possibility because of the high fees of bitcoin compare to ethereum. Bitcoin is still expensive even  if segwit or lightning network is implemented bitcoin is still has costly transaction. Plus the fact that bitcoin's volatility brings down it's price always and not getting stable.

It's not my first time answering this kind of question. I think it's about 2-3 questions like this I've answered though I still disagree. Why?  It is because Bitcoin is the ultimate cryptocurrency I know. It is so called "King of Cryptocurrency". So obviously, no one can beat this crypto. Bitcoin will not allow that. That is the reason why, this crypto is always suprised everyone with the status of its price. Again, I don't believe that ETH can beat bitcoin even though ETH is a good coin also.
