English being their second language is besides the point, but you're forgetting that this is an English speaking forum. If you can't speak English then you should stick to your local board as that's what they're there for. I have nothing but respect for people who speak multiple languages but when your English is so poor it's often a stretch to say it's even a second language and when the forum is wall-to-wall shitposts by people quite clearly struggling and forcing themselves to make posts it becomes both annoying and disruptive. A lot of people's English here is so bad they're like human spambots and it would be akin to me going into the Philippines local board and trying to speak Filipino. I can't. So I would struggle and so do they. They would also quite rightly get annoyed if their board was flooded with largely unintelligible drivel by people who can't speak Filipino and I wouldn't blame them for that.

This forum used to be a place to discuss bitcoin but now due to signature campaigns that has become second fiddle and is now largely just a place for people to earn bitcoins via signature campaigns and when you can't speak English either very well or at all this is just a recipe for disaster. I honestly don't blame people from developing countries trying to take advantage of it but it cannot be acceptable for people to spew nonsense all over as they ruin it for everyone else as it is almost impossible to have a decent discussion about anything here any more. The fact that they can't speak English doesn't hold them back because they'll either just google translate it or even worse copy and paste somebody else's post. You don't have to clean up their mess on a daily basis so you can't understand Staff's annoyance with the issue. You will also have no idea how many users are banned for copy and pasting content on a daily basis and the vast majority of these instances happen to be mostly Filipinos and Indonesians (because they can't speak English very well if at all). Staff's job here now is essentially to babysit these annoying kids for free and we waste countless hours attempting to do so and it's incredibly frustrating and that frustration is shared with many other users who are tired of having to sift through streams of illiterate diarrhoea to even find something worth commenting on.

Don't get confused....This is a PUBLIC forum just because a few pricks have no tolerance for a person who speaks a second language or even third language below our "standards" doesn't give a right to mute a person from posting in other sections outside of their primary language.   

They have a right to post in ANY section to the best of their ability with their adopted language without harassment from idiots who can't even comprehend what learning a different language is all about.

Sure it seems broken at times and may seem "Stupid" to the admin but give them a little tolerance it's not easy.

I agree spam like +1 should be deleted or plagiarism but if a guy is posting in a 2nd or 3rd language have a little understanding.

As others have said this is a private forum with rules. The rules are no low value posts. People really shouldn't be posting in their second or third language if they're not fluent in English and if you're not fluent then stick to your local boards as that's what they're there for. Far too much abuse is already tolerated here but that's partly why the forum is in such a mess and all these restrictions that are being suggested or trialled are done so to try make the forum actually readable and usable and to cut down on the wall-to-wall abuse by both bots and spammers.

Being an Indian,I take this offensively.I don't eat curry ,neither shit on streets. Yes, there are legit people here from these countries that The Pharmacist is 'attacking', however you somehow forget about the peaceful people when their brothers and sisters are doing such vile acts here. While I don't completely with the wording of him, his core ideas are spot on and something should certainly be done about all this spamming.

There is a fundamental difference between a private forum open to the public and a public forum open to the public.

Like it or not there are rules here.  Are some less enforced than others sure but in what are of life is that not true...  When you get pulled over by a cop do you use the lame ass defense of "hey that other guy was speeding too".  Guess what, NO ONE CARES.  In the USA a lot of people say, "it's my right to drive".  It's not, driving is again a privilege available to the public.  Go get your license revoked and drive around, then when you get pulled over tell the cop its your fucking right to drive and see how that works out for you.

OK, so there are Filipino mods.  Does that negate what I said about the Phillipines' collective contribution to bitcointalk?  Hell, no!  Not all shitposters are from the Phillipines, but most Filipinos from what I've seen are shitposters.  They didn't come to an English-language forum to discuss bitcoin in a language that's not their own.  They came here to earn money from campaigns that only pay for English posts, and they're wiping their ass with bitcointalk in the process with the results you can clearly see in sections like Bitcoin Discussion & Economics.

I understand him somehow. I myself have trouble finding valuable topics to read, or having a normal discussion with users. And when I see an interesting topic and start to read, 80% is filled with stupid posts (bitcoin is good so it will go to the moon and because the moon bitcoin will shine it's the best crypto, bitcoin is freedom and so bitcoin is awesome) When you read 20-30 posts like this one, you don't even remember the original topic. For the same thing, people open 4-5 different topics making several duplicate topics, while you just need to search before and if there is already a topic, stick with it

Nothing has led me to such desperation as watching East Asian and Russian spammers flood the forum with waves of crap that I'll never be able to mop up, no matter how hard I tried. And while the not every [insert nationality here] is a spammer principle applies, trends do exist and certain countries with shitty living standards do tend to dominate the spamming sphere more than their more affluent counterparts. (Usually) not the individual's fault, but the mind does tend to lump people into categories.

I used to be called idol in a  game where the majority of players are Filipinos, they are really simple people, once I got in a signature campaign when I had neg trust after I posted something in Filipinos language, tagalog. I was in love with a girl, though she was Chinese but a Filipino was my competition.

It could be partly my fault, ever since I talked about Bitcoin on a game with 3000 Filipino players, I started to see more of them here, price was $2000 back then. oi The pharmacist, do you think that you are special? (you are fluent in English, that doesn't mean you are above them all).

This is not off topic, this is why we're here on this topic, when you have a signature on even for a day, your activity should decrease for 2 weeks per post, that way, no body could trick the system.

What you say makes sense, but what I said kind of confused you. I meant that users are allowed to post anywhere in the forum, as long as they are not breaking the rules mentioned by mprep and they are not shitposting and saying bull shit. If they do so, yes then they are banned and corrective action is taken. But still those users come back with the greed of participating in signature campaigns. Administrators do not have all the time in the world to check who is avoiding their ban and what not.
Posting is not exactly a right, it is a privilege, I agree. But I just want to say that instead of being too much of a racist to people who can't post well, anyone getting angry with shitposters is not going to help. If one shitposter is banned, 10 more come in. This would only increase a person's blood pressure,instead stop giving heed to shitposters, rather ignore them in the first place and just report them.

Let them pay, if you have enough moderators, you could stop them from breaking the rules. you say they'll rank up by spending time? they are doing the ranking up and are earning at the same time, if they'd post just to rank up without breaking the rules, you couldn't do anything to stop that, it is their time.

I've witnessed how much work the mods actually do to try and combat the spam that keeps on popping up. By the time they have mopped up a few hundred posts when they check again there's another few hundred posts to deal with. It's a vicious circle right now which quite frankly won't be prevented by hiring new mods. Changes to the structure of the forum is likely the only way we are going to combat this. But, then we risk hindering the actual legitimate users of the forum, which I for one aren't a fan of.

Signature campaigns are a big problem of the forum. Changes have been forced which are far from perfect. The changes which have been made have done little to actually stop the widepread spamming. Serious discussion and it's sub board for example isn't dealing with it directly but, allowing a safe haven for discussions that people want to talk about without the annoying spam.

It isn't just signature campaigns. Altcoin annoucements and bounties are a big part of the problem and it tends to be a spamming ground for many non English, broken English and English responses.

The forum shouldn't have to accommodate for signature campaigns. Signature campaigns should accommodate for the forum. What should be done is if the signature manager isn't doing it's job then the thread should be trashed and the manager punished.

I don't know if you've ever run something which requires using moderators, but it's incredibly difficult to find trustworthy ones who most likely have no identity attached to them, more so on a cyptocurrency forum. Plus, any of the reports that I make normally get dealt with within a few hours at most. The forums staff team cover almost 24/7 between them.

English speaking people who seem to think that learning a second language perfectly is easy should probably try it themselves.

You have to ask yourself how many languages does theymos fluently speak? or how about The Pharmacist? or Mr. Prep?

English being their second language is besides the point, but you're forgetting that this is an English speaking forum. If you can't speak English then you should stick to your local board as that's what they're there for. I have nothing but respect for people who speak multiple languages but when your English is so poor it's often a stretch to say it's even a second language and when the forum is wall-to-wall shitposts by people quite clearly struggling and forcing themselves to make posts it becomes both annoying and disruptive. A lot of people's English here is so bad they're like human spambots and it would be akin to me going into the Philippines local board and trying to speak Filipino. I can't. So I would struggle and so do they. They would also quite rightly get annoyed if their board was flooded with largely unintelligible drivel by people who can't speak Filipino and I wouldn't blame them for that.

This forum used to be a place to discuss bitcoin but now due to signature campaigns that has become second fiddle and is now largely just a place for people to earn bitcoins via signature campaigns and when you can't speak English either very well or at all this is just a recipe for disaster. I honestly don't blame people from developing countries trying to take advantage of it but it cannot be acceptable for people to spew nonsense all over as they ruin it for everyone else as it is almost impossible to have a decent discussion about anything here any more. The fact that they can't speak English doesn't hold them back because they'll either just google translate it or even worse copy and paste somebody else's post. You don't have to clean up their mess on a daily basis so you can't understand Staff's annoyance with the issue. You will also have no idea how many users are banned for copy and pasting content on a daily basis and the vast majority of these instances happen to be mostly Filipinos and Indonesians (because they can't speak English very well if at all). Staff's job here now is essentially to babysit these annoying kids for free and we waste countless hours attempting to do so and it's incredibly frustrating and that frustration is shared with many other users who are tired of having to sift through streams of illiterate diarrhoea to even find something worth commenting on.

Don't get confused....This is a PUBLIC forum just because a few pricks have no tolerance for a person who speaks a second language or even third language below our "standards" doesn't give a right to mute a person from posting in other sections outside of their primary language.   

They have a right to post in ANY section to the best of their ability with their adopted language without harassment from idiots who can't even comprehend what learning a different language is all about.

Sure it seems broken at times and may seem "Stupid" to the admin but give them a little tolerance it's not easy.

I agree spam like +1 should be deleted or plagiarism but if a guy is posting in a 2nd or 3rd language have a little understanding.

As others have said this is a private forum with rules. The rules are no low value posts. People really shouldn't be posting in their second or third language if they're not fluent in English and if you're not fluent then stick to your local boards as that's what they're there for. Far too much abuse is already tolerated here but that's partly why the forum is in such a mess and all these restrictions that are being suggested or trialled are done so to try make the forum actually readable and usable and to cut down on the wall-to-wall abuse by both bots and spammers.
