The first layer – This is the secure ledger layer, it is basically focused on the mechanism of application of the blockchain technology in Ethereum, which is the cryptocurrency the token is based on.
The second layer – this layer is called the scalable payment and governance layer. It involves the cardstack token – CARD and the aggregation protocol known as Tally. Tally uses cryptographic proof-of-usage protocol to verify and validate transactions to the smart contract. Consequently, Tally improves the experience by reducing the demands on the Ethereum blockchain.
The third layer – the final layer, known as the orchestration and experience layer, this layer is all about the general framework of the cardstack hub and card based blockchain applications.”

To achieve this, they are bringing their smart contract up to the latest industry standards.
That's why they're performing Cardstack's 2nd major smart contract upgrade, which adopts ZeppelinOS, among other improvements.

Transactions will be disabled while the team will perform the upgrade.
It's planned to begin Tuesday, Sep. 11, at 9:00 AM EST (3:00PM CEST) and will last an estimated 8-12 hours.

The token's Ethereum address will also change once the upgrade is complete.

Cardstack's smart contract upgrade is now complete.

The new, official address for Cardstack Token (CARD) as of September 12, 2018 (00:00 UTC) is:

This address may be verified by looking up our ENS address, cardstack.eth: https://etherscan.io/address/cardstack.eth

Exchanges have been notified of our new address and will be updating their systems to reflect this soon. Direct token transfers are now reactivated.

If you have Cardstack Tokens: You do not need to do anything, except to use the new address going forward! We want to make sure you have a great user experience, so the hard part of swapping tokens and transferring balances has been completed and paid for by our team.

This major upgrade also enables us to make future upgrades without changing our contract address, to further improve the user experience.

Hello royalfestus, this is a major contract upgrade so that the team can make future upgrades without changing the contract address. Here's a full breakdown of what this upgrade means for the end user, as well as the project moving forward. It has nothing to do with exchanges, nor with price.
