Yesterday was an interesting day,for some it seemed that it is day when all coins will go to 0 and like always there is a big panic which some smart people like OP are use in their favor and buy some cheap coins. What is certain that BTC and altcoins are not for people with weak heart and basic understanding how things work.Personally, I'm not surprised because people are in panic,a month ago price was almost 20 000$ and yesterday has sunk to 9000$,only the most faithful did not lose hope in such moments.

But as someone said, this was a good lesson for all newbies and for some older members-we are back today to almost 12 000$ Smiley

Completely agrre with you.
So much panic every time when the price goes down and it seems that no one isn't learning anything from it.
But yesterday it was extraordinary situation to make money, who bought bitcoin yesterday today had the chance to make almost 3000$ on one bitcoin. But most of users were just crying and complaining.

I know this gets repeated over and over, but that's probably because new waves of newbies have to learn the same lesson. Still, Bitcoin as an investment is extremely volatile, and they likely have never experienced such swings before. It's quite hard to blame them, especially the ones who have never really invested in any market.

You're also not the only one who thought about buying the dip, because pretty much everything recovered from their funks, and Bitcoin is back at $11,000. I don't take this as an indication that the slide is over, though, and I still think there will be tough times ahead both in value and transaction fees. I plan to keep HODLing on though.

Those newbies really have to learn it the expensive way. LOL. We have been preaching over and over again not to dump during dips, actually its the perfect opportunity to make profits long term. However, when panic sets it, their decision is clouded and the only thing they would do is push that sell button. Just wait and you will see a lot of them shouting that they have made the wrong decision of dumping it during the crash. Bitcoin is back above $11,000 now and looks like the rally is picking up. Better keep on Hodling and see your investments grow overtime.

I suppose that many newbies who lost big are not even a member on bitcointalk.
It's imaginable many of them just bought because they got a tip from a distant friend who said bitcoin is a safe bet.
And at the point when realized the magnitude of the downtrend, they went out. Exactly at the lowest point.
Maybe some of the new guys here had better luck. Hopefully at least some read and followed the advices the experienced members gave.

I have been through this time and time again. We go through a dip and everyone is running for the hills or selling their coins.

The trolls come out of their caves and the panic nanny behaviour kick into action, triggering a massive sell off amongst the weak hands. <Newbies & Speculators>

I woke up yesterday and I saw the price was just above $9000. My first thought was, "Damn, I need to buy quickly, before this goes up" and I did. ^smile^

Most people woke up and the first thing they did was to fire up a browser and to read the comments of these trolls and media shills and consequently selling their coins in a state of panic.

The weak hands will lose money and the strong will thrive in this game. Hodl on people! <Buy the Dip>  Grin

Cannot agree more with you, the trading game is only for strong people, weak minded will always make the moves that allow us to profit. If you believe in something just hold on to it, it will pay off later.

This market crash taught be a valuable lesson on BTC trading. On my demo trading game, I noticed my portfolio was down by a lot. And I fell in the trap of panic selling. That's not what you want to do man. Don't do it.

The best lesson to learn about crypto trading is to stay calm when the market dips. It's actually a good thing. Dips should be viewed as discounts as it allows you to buy your favorite coins for cheap. Once the market gets back to normal, then it's smooth sailing again.

Don't panic man. Trust me.

In addition to what you said the strong mind can only win this race. Anything related with investment is always risk associated either you leave it or take it, it all depend on your mind and determination.
I agree. The more you see the truth about bitcoin, the higher the chances of reaching your goals through bitcoin. You have your own special ways how to make huge profit and definitely survive all its challenges. But people who sees bitcoin as an ordinary and less value always end up failed. They never tried harder to make their goals achieved so the result will be less likely to happen.

Can't agree more with you mate, that's why i'm still holding my bitcoins and altcoins since the crash happened. These pattern is same like 2-3 year ago, in january cryptocurrency crashed so hard and after that they start recovering for the next month. I'm sure cryptocurrency will back to normal soon.

Bitcoin are almost on -50% down but the dump is not yet finished. It was always dumping first quarter of the year as i observed.
Long term investors will enjoy the fruit of bitcoin in mid year.

Those who have the guts to hodl are doing it. You need to understand that people who have invested in crypto are humans after all. They have lives and get emotional - its perfectly natural and thus we cannot blame them for spreading the FUD. We need to differentiate what is FUD and what is real news.

Think of it if some friend told you about crypto and you without doing any research invested in it. Now the price dropped and thus they are panic selling. Whats new in that? Im happily closing the sites and going to sleep.

yes you are very right, if you can be more patient to keep your coin for years it will earn very much profit, so do not be weak holders who feel anxious to sell coin owned.

Probably inexperienced in the world of crypto in general. I don't even consider myself a pro in trading knowing that I still lose in the trades i make often, and can only get 5-10% profits per week. But I do know how to be patient and read a little bit of the markets, which took me to where I am right now. All my alt holdings are down, but in reality I'm already way beyond my initial bankroll since I still buy from what I consider "dips" in the market.

Isn't that the best thing ever Tongue Idiots, illiterate and people who are nothing but nescience sell of their holdings scared of getting a loss, I don't get why they want to sell at a break even point  Huh Like can you not have a little bit of patience, like ever? It ticks me off, not much but a little cause the markets go down and consequently it becomes a cause in trades. But at the same time opportunities appear to buy during the dip but if trades get distorted, the position to buy sometimes gets compromised.  Undecided

What a great way to start the year right? I think this is just how bitcoin will show how much it will grow until the end of the year. The price will start climbing when it reach mid-year and will be of good fruit before the end starts. I can't say that this is how it really works but if you will be observant, you will see that people sell much near January for the holidays. This maybe is not helpful and a good way to start the year but we can't just stop people from doing it, its their own money anyway.

I totally and can't agree with you more. Backdrops on its market value is jist a part of the game when it comes on investing to Bitcoin that is naturally volatile. We should be awared of it. I don't really know whu there are still people being caught with this scenario which are those who chooses to sell just because the market value is falling. Surely it will be a regret for them seeing the market value of Bitcoin that is now recovering.

Thanks to these panic sellers and beginners the whales in market able to increase their wealth more and more.
Unfortunately some idiot traders bears huge loss in these panic situations, the saddest truth is that even after all this they (beginner/inexperienced traders) can't understand the market dips, these dips are not going to stay here for a long time.
To keep calm and control emotions is much needed in trading if you want to be a successful trader, else you can even lose whatever you have.

Yup, you explained it exactly. After been through a few decent sized dips myself now it doesn't even phase me in the slightest. Getting some buys on sub 10k bitcoin was a no brainer. Shoot even just look where it is today and it will probably be back up to approaching 14k in the next few days like nothing even happened in the first place!

Yes that's for sure. Those who are determined to earn huge orofit in the future will have a strong heart to hold than to sell whenever its market vakue is falking. The recent backdrop truly made most of the users here worried. There are lots of people who sold their Bitcoin those who did not will be surely smiling at this moment because its market value is now starting to recover so just HOLD.

History always repeat itself and so Bitcoin scenario too.  There had been thousand of scenario like this and the victim is always those who never do their assignment.  This dip is due to whales manipulating and not because of the news about bans.. Bitcoin had been there and yet it still here.  If they only knew that LN network is about to be implemented this coming first quarter.. they would have rejoiced that the price dip and buy instead of panic selling.

I cant really argue on this matter because back into the days when I was still on that state on where I do easily fall out on those shills and tend to sell out because of my panic of sudden price decrease and end up on thinking why I did able to do such thing when I'm seeing the price had rise up again.I did able to buy on the dip specially on Bitcoin when it was just $9600 on its price and now its already 11,900 on preev.com which its an easy profits for you for a short period of time.

I am not convinced that the best way to deal with the high volatility of this market is to stand firm with the idea of "hodling". I think we should learn to play with these constant swings to increase our capital. Otherwise we are losing gold opportunities that only good traders are taking advantage of, while the "hodlers" are only observing the party from the outside.

This only mean that those who easily give up and discourage will not gain but those who are brave and have always hope, always positive will win in the battle.
