It's very unpredictable that even experts cannot foresee the events on bitcoin because it literally depends on the people's demand to the market, last years highest value approx. is $22000 which is a result of greed by people who wanted to earn profit.I think we are going to see it again before the year 2018 will end like what happened last year.

When discussions are made about bitcoin hitting "$20,000 again ", my curiosity leads me to wonder whether bitcoin really stayed at that height of $20,000?

I do not think it stayed at that level for more than 24 hours, it only got there by a spike as all time high. Therefore, if it got there by a spike , that means it didn't basically stay there but pushed out profit to "smart"and lucky investors.

However, what I think made bitcoin got to that height around December was the rush of the season as there were much transaction with bitcoin. So, talking about hitting $20,000 and maybe surpassing that figure , it won't come in a rush. It will be a gradual process unlike the fast run witnessed in December.

Again, the reason that $20,000 might be a gradual step is that, we are now having other coins, which OP started as 3rd and 4th generation coins. This coins are being tested by investors because of high transaction of bitcoin and delays.

Yes we will see 20k+ in future, Everything needs correction when it going to the ladder of success very rapidly,
So does happen to bitcoin, Bitcoin records great heights of crypto world, If it goes on incresing there will be a unbalnced in the market which is not healthy at any cost,
these correction will improve the analysis of bitcoin, thus lending a platform for the further development, so don't worry.
As it goes like that we will see bitcoin crossing 50k+ in coming years.

(I'm all-in in Bitcoin for the record) I don't want to be a pessimist but I'm kinda going in to that direction.

We all know crypto bled quite bad the past week. Because of bunch of government issues, futures contacts, unconfirmed transactions and what not... We all also know that Bitcoin is neither the fastest nor the safest crpto currency out. The 3rd generation coins are way more in demand and people are in talks of the 4th generation. I'm wondering if BTC will ever see the light of day.

Tether deposited another 400 million USD to BTC, and it's said this is the reason BTC had an upward movement. However, my perspective is a bit blurred and I can't help myself but get more pessimistic about it.

When Bitcoin was around 18k, the only thing that was talked was whether it was the biggest bubble in history or not and (if it is) when it's going to burst. Now that it went up to 20k and went back down to 9k, it looks more of a bubble than not.

I'd like to hear what forum people say.

what is it now?
12.8K

so 10 to 20 to 9 to 12.8  is not to worry.

10 to 20 to 9 to 3 would be to worry.

In the long term Bitcoin will grow tens of times. However, in the short term, we have to wait for the end of correction, which I think will end around middle of february. I think in the second half of this year we will see huge rise of Bitcoin and we'll see 50K$.

I think that criptocurrency capitalization will be more 1000 billion $ in this year. This capitalization will increase criptocurrency prices including BTC price. So I think BTC will be up to 30k $ in this year

Actually I did not see any big crash at all. This happened so many times and even a few times within a year, that I was not worried. However, as many people entered the crypto market just recently or in the last few month, for them, this was their first "crash" and a lot of articles even stated, that the crypto bubble popped. It is quite possible, that the bubble can pop at some point in the near future, but then the markets will really bleed. This was nothing compared to that. After that hopefully the cryptos will recover healthily step by step.

To answer your question: Before all of this happens as described as above, we will see 20k and even more.

I expect the BTC price to get to $15-20k this year. The rate of investment dropped because of the panic and a lot of people expected BTC to fold up. I'm sure after some weeks they'll come back an we'll even see more investments because people will be more sure that BTC isn't going anywhere. An increase in investment will increase BTC demand which will also increase its price.

It made me confuse that maybe the halves of it are own by the Korean people that after the crash $20k is become $9k. If this is true then we will need a replacement for South Korean investors so that the value will back to $20k again but still without them i believed that the $20k will be achieve by this year.

I think it is likely that Bitcoin will rise again, and if it will, it will be far beyond 20K. However, we may have to go through a bear market before this happens. Not for sure, or course, but it is a possibility.
