Ukraine is a great country. I was in Ivano Frankovsk and in Harkov - amazing places. At this moment I don't think that Ukraine is very safe place, but not so dangerous as Russia. I hope that next winter I will visit Bukovel with my Ukranian friends.

Check Dragobrat also. Great for freeride and backcountry, definitively have its own spirit. Old lifts but really great mountains and lot's of snow.

This is the first time I am hearing about Dragobrat, so I researched about it a little bit. It is located within the Zakarpatska oblast, near the Hungarian border. Not a very famous resort, but it is quite popular with those from the ex-USSR states. Don't know whether the Ukrainian government is having the resources to develop this resort.

It will be better if the government develops the resort. On the other hand, if they gift it to the oligarchs such as Renat Akhmetov and Ihor Kolomoyskyi, then the general public is not going to get any of the benefits. These guys will just earn revenues and avoid paying taxes by shipping the money to Cyprus and London.

We have lots and lots of proofs around the globe that when any government start business it is ineffective or is directly working for someones pocket after investing our taxes. Governmental task is to give fair and equal opportunities for safe investments and not to spend state money for any projects that can be profitable like ski resorts.

I like Putin and Russia, But when it comes to Ukraine's sovereignty I have to  respect their sovereignty too. Because tomorrow some other big country can do the same to another small neighbor country justifying their invasion. I think all these happened due to western factor. Then Ukraine became victim between 2 super powers. This is a pathetic situation. I heard so many people already have died from the war. And we can remember mistakenly one group attacked the Malaysian passenger airplane with a rocket. Tragedy continued..horrible.

Essentially what happened in Ukraine is a war between the two groups of Ukrainians (i.e the Western Ukrainians and the Eastern Ukrainians). It will be wrong to blame Putin for this. Obviously, he was supporting the Russian-speaking Eastern Ukrainians. But at the same time the Western Ukrainians were being supported by Angela Merkel and Donald Trump.

Please stop lying about a thing you do know nothing. The war was started by invasion of moskovite troops in Crimea, then russian citizens started to seize cities in Eastern Ukraine, killing and torturing people that voiced any complaints. Merciless rulers like Putin, Stalin, Hitler may seem effective from outside but God help you if you get on their way. Ukraine have made greatest contribution to nuke disarment giving away the third biggest nuclear arsenal in the world. World's powers give warranties of security but non of them provided military help when Russia invaded. Before russian invasion we have good chance to join NATO but nearly half of ukrainians thought we do not need it. Now at least 65% of ukrainians support our move to NATO membership but NATO must be dumb to accept country at war.

Shall we talk about Ukraine? I hope Ukranians and people who has  visited and lived in Ukraine will join with thread to share their experiences here

1. Is Ukraine safe for foreigners ?
2 Are Ukrainians are racists ?
3. How is the living cost in Ukraine
4. Are there part time jobs for international students in Ukraine ?
5. Is it difficult to find part time jobs without knowing their language?

Mostly like in any Eastern Slavic country East of Slovakia the cities are totally fine, just gotta watch out for local idiosyncracies (stay smart, know where you are, like in NYC for instance Smiley ). The countryside I dont know, but from what Ive heard, locals are exceptionally friendly. BUT DRINK WITH THEM !!! - not one shot of vodka, say you don't drink alcohol - when they drink they start being jittery and shit gets weird, perhaps a bit unsafe.

Good points, unfortunately this person is biased against Ukraine, may be he watched RT (Russia Today channel) all the time. That's sad when people lack political education, but start discussion and pretend that they know a lot.
Even people who are not following politics can know that at the time when Russian aggression happened US President was Barack Obama, and most of the forum political commentator even didn't hear the name Donald Trump

1. What happened in Crimea is different. Crimea is an autonomous republic and it made the decision to merge with Russia.
2. Russian citizens didn't seized cities in eastern Ukraine. 90% of the rebels were Ukrainian citizens.
3. Russia is the successor to the USSR. Just because the nuclear weapons were stationed in Ukraine, that doesn't mean that they don't belong to Russia.
4. NATO or EU will never accept a beggar nation such as Ukraine.
5. You weaken your argument by making ridiculous comparisons, such as the one in bolded letters.

I dont know 100% about this situation. But Russia caused much suffering. I hope things will get better there soon.
You are right about sufferings. Russian can't accept that we are a different country

1. In Crimea there was invasion and after that - a voting under guns of invaders. No free country in the world see in as a legitimate people's will expressed.
2. Again you are lying. Armed warfare was started by a group of mainly russian citizens led by Girkin who travelled to Donbass after sucsessful invasion in Crimea. Russian-made heavy arms where supplied by Russian State, including long-range AAM BUK that shot down Malaysian passenger aircraft.
3. If Russia is a successor to USSR it should be ready to pay for crimes conducted by the USSR in different countries, including Ukraine.
4. Please stop you nazi statements about any nation.

Suum cuique.
I think most of the readers will see the lies and that he tries to show himself rude person even makes the lies more obvious.
He just hates Ukraine and that's it, no reason to discuss with such people
But others will come to this thread, we can continue communication with them

Ukraine is a great country. I was in Ivano Frankovsk and in Harkov - amazing places. At this moment I don't think that Ukraine is very safe place, but not so dangerous as Russia. I hope that next winter I will visit Bukovel with my Ukranian friends.

Both Ukraine and Russia are dangerous, they have lived and developed pretty much under the same regime, the communism.
And there is also that conflict with Crimeea and Donbas. For now, indeed, some parts of Ukraine are unsafe. Too bad of what's going on over there.
