"When someone submits their documents to us, their name then goes through three government databases that list suspected terrorists and financial criminals. Once the application clears all three databases, that's when we clear their account," Mithawala said. So far, he said, he knows of just "six or seven"out of thousands of applicants who had failed that check. Federal regulations then require that every purchase or sale of bitcoins on the site be reported to the government agency known as the "Financial Crimes Enforcement Network" (FinCEN). "You submit all transactions every quarter,"Mithawala said. "And there are a couple other reports you are also required to file. If you detect any suspicious activity, you are required to file a Suspicious Activity Report, and then there is also a Large Transactions Report." Mithawala said that he had seen some suspicious activity on the site in the last couple weeks and that it would be reported. As additional safeguards, CampBX keeps track of users' IP addresses and has a 31-day waiting period before a user's first bank wire deposit to the site clears. CampBX is currently awaiting approval from federal regulators. The FinCEN website lists CampBX, under its formal legal name "Bulbul Investments,"as having filed an "initial registration." "It's an application in progress ... I'm confident we will get a positive decision, because we have the right policies in place," he said.

I filed a complaint with BBB regarding this bogus "90 day hold" on withdrawing my purchased bitcoins: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=272161.0It has been over a month and support continues to ignore me. Stay far far away from campbx!

These guys at CampBX seem to be experts at retaining customer funds indefinitely I have also being affected by their unresponsive behavior. You can read about my specific case here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=514176.0After my experience with them, I have learned to Stay Away From CampBX (or any other Fiat/BTC exchange)Its better to just: make or earn BTC and spend BTCMy 2c. They closed my account and took my money without asking me any questions. Yeah, this place needs to be investigated. I saw someone on this forum who lost $10,000+ to these crooks.

Here's what I can add. A lot of the campbx posts complaining of scams are a majority of newbies. Is there a real problem here? Not sure but these newbies are complaining in several threads and it smells like a smear. What I can attest to is that I've traded hundreds of BTC with campbx over the last few years and haven't had a single problem. Not one. I've always preferred campbx because Keyur has always put himself out there. I met him face to face at the bitcoin convention a few years back in manhattan. I know 100% without a single doubt this is his true name as well. I know this because I bought him a place ticket to come to New Orleans for a business meeting. Maybe they're a little sluggish but I would be ABSOLUTELY blown away if campbx was involved in any scam of any form.

I am not sure since I have not down business since they removed dwolla but I am hearing more and more problems with them. I thought it was just the huge influx of new users to the site earlier but now its been 6 months and they are still having problems. I can just not recommend anyone there anymore. It seems there short staffed but maybe something else is going on.

It's got to be a staffing issue. HAS to be. Is there documentation about money not being returned or is this just word of mouth schenanigans? I know he's bent over backwards for that exchange and has always tried to stay a step above on the financial regulations. I would state my reputation on Keyur not running a scam exchange. Slow customer service though? I don't know because I've never had any problems.
