I really believe that NEO could potentially be a huge competitor and an alternative to Ether.

Below are some differences between the 2 alt coins

Backers

NEO is backed by many  Chinese enterprises and is the single most important factor behind NEO's popularity in China.

Ethereum on the other hand is supported by the EEA-Enterprise Ethereum Alliance. Not only in China, ethereum audience is Global.

Divisibility

NEO is not divisible. It can only exists in whole numbers (1,2,6,10,100)
Ether is divisible. It can be divided into satoshi

mechanism

NEO make use of a consensus mechanism (Delegated Byzantine Fault Tolerant ) , which is an improved form of proof-of-stake.

Ethereum uses a proof-of-work mechanism although etherum is looking forward to looking to proof of stake.

dBFT is seen as more energy efficient than proof-of-work, as proof-of-work usage of energry is huge and highly expensive considering high electicity price. However, I don’t see this as a big advantage for NEO as Ethereum has plans to move to an efficient proof-of-stake mechanism.

Speed

NEO can handle up to 9,000 t/s

Ethereum can handle 15 t/s

This is currently NEO’s biggest advantage but ether could soon catch up to it as Ethereum blockchain enter its next Phrase

Actually no one actually know what the future will behold. Both Neo and Ether are new and yet to deliver on their core promises yet.Once things start to happen, we will know which Altcoin will be the better one.

first, i think i love to use both ETH and NEO because rightnow ETH is too easy to get profit from any invesments no matter long term or short term, and widely popular around the world. NEO is famous due to having own blockchain system of china commnuity. So having two of these altcoins will bring us profit more in the future.

Having both is what most people want though to answer the question what would you choose? I'd pick Ethereum since it was built first.

Both ETH and NEO has their merits and rightly pointed out by many members here is that NEO is probably the equivalent of ETH but in China.

This makes both smart contract blockchain worthy of a long term hold as we are seeing a lot of ICO launching on ETH and an increasing numbers launching on NEO as well.

One key difference not well known is that it is almost free to launch an ICO or create a new ERC20 token on ETH but it costs a fair bit of GAS to launch an ICO on NEO. Correct me if I am wrong but it amounts to about $11k to $15k worth of GAS.

What this means is that we see less crappy ICO on NEO due to the hefty costs.. I see this as a barrier to prevent lousy ICO from being launched and clogging up the blockchain.

Which do you think is better and why?

I prefer ETH, because ETH has experienced a very rapid growth and ETH is able to work with some startup that will make the price more expensive.

I think that Neo, which has been called the chinese ETH, still has to express its potential. ETH instead is a very solid and consolidated project that will continue to improve and grow in the coming months/years

I heard it was called Japanese ETH

Which do you think is better and why?

Both crypto currencies are good. But I prefer the etherium because it is decentralized and can be mined
While NEO centralized and subject to an unknown organization and this means that they will easily be manipulated in the market.

I like both of these platforms. Neo more young, but probably more promising. Both of these coins are undervalued. Therefore, the price growth will be both for Ethereum and NEO. I have both these coins and would not want to give up one to the detriment of the other.

I like NEO. Now there is a lot of ICO on this platform. But there is one thing - but - this is China. If the government continues its ultimatum sentiments, then I would not make big bets on Chinese projects. Ethereum, it seems to me, is now in a more advantageous position. That's why I'm for it.

You might be thinking of NEM. Incidentally, today is a good day to buy some NEM, although the recovery is already underway.

NEO is definitely Chinese - it's the re-branded AntShares - or as someone once referred to it in this forum during an epic rise, "the hymenoptera that could". Which was only funny once I'd googled hymenoptera to see what it meant...

It is impossible to compare Ethereum and NEO at the moment. I think that we don't know about many problems or preferences of NEO blockchain due that number transaction in NEO very low against Ethereum blockchain.

I would recommend to divide your capital into two parts and buying both of these coins. These are strong projects which in 2018 have planned many good events. And now is a good time to buy.

2018 I think ll be year of smart contrats, Ethereum and Neo ll have big increase at price but for structure Ethereum is the best, but for investment Neo is more wise because of price.

Ethereum has extraordinary potential, it's bigger that BTC's for sure; I can't say same for all the alts, BUT currently ETH is the most well-known one and other alts are miles away from it currently. It will grow during 2018 for sure.

Smart contracts will certainly be a winner. There are plenty of blockchain smart contract platforms, but there is certainly room for more than one to be successful. I don't think it's a winner-takes-all situation. ETH and NEO should both do really well this year, as should NEM.

I thinks I would choose Eth over Neo simply due the number of industry supporters. Both platform has its different advantages but i think ethereum outways neo.
