I have extended family in Mexico and would love to have them be able to accept Bitcoin remittance. I don't think there are any exchange opportunities in their area though.
If you don't say where, nobody will be able to help!
I attended the Buenos Aires conference.  Alan Safahi said his company zipzap is building out a worldwide exchange infrastructure for remittances.  Maybe you should email him:   alan.safahi@ezipzap.com
Coin4ce.com is also expanding in Latin America.

I'm pretty sure people have been doing that. Not that I would know.  Lips sealed

The owner of India Gate (now accepting BTC in Puerto Vallarta via the Co-op's POS "Coinos") has created a Bitcoin Meet Up for Puerto Vallarta. In addition to members, we are recruiting organizers at this stage. As the Meet Up description should be in Spanish and English, and members will likely communicate in Spanish, we need locals to help. Gurmeet will give you a beer and appy, or something, for now. We will post CoinFest here as the first event--other Meet Ups in Mexico are welcome to join us. Stephanie Murphy will be attending to speak for a bit, in case you're familiar with her work, such as Lets Talk Bitcoin.

If you would like to help, a great first project would be translating this to the Spanish Bitcoin forums and telling your friends. If you wish, you may also sponsor CoinFest Puerto Vallarta. Just as with the CoinFests in Canada (Vancouver, Winnipeg and Edmonton, so far), your bitcoins would be used to promote Bitcoin to the public in a non-profit manner. Here is the Meet Up link: http://www.meetup.com/Puerto-Vallarta-Bitcoin-Mexico-Meetup/

What's the date of the meetup?

I'll be there Feb 21-28. Already have the wife and friends excited to get a fine Indian mean meal in PV for XBT. Looks like the place is just a few blocks south of the Malecon?

Anyone with a campaign ad in their signature -- for an organization with which they are not otherwise affiliated -- is automatically deducted credibility points.

I've been convicted of heresy. Convicted by a mere known extortionist. Read my Trust for details.

I've actually never been down there, so I don't know about the Malecon. Tongue This is why we are trying to recruit locals to join us. The India Gate guy lives in Vancouver most of the time, so whomever it is could become a primary organizer.

The CoinFest in Puerto Vallarta will be on February 15th. Maybe we could try to form another meeting, afterwards--regular Meet Ups are healthy for a community. If your friends want to have a get-together, there, you're free to organize and list something on the Meet Up.

The Mexican vigilantes that are taking over parts of Mexico, stealing it from the drug lords and the government, might be able to use something like Bitcoin.
