The Co-op needs your help to spread Bitcoin in Latin America! One of the venue owners we work with has venues in the Mexican city of Puerto Vallarta, and wants to take his BTC acceptance there. Trouble is, we all live in the Canadian city of Vancouver, and none of us speak a word of Spanish. Can anybody here hit the Spanish subforum on our behalf? He might go down there rather soon, but even if he could set everything up himself, the support of the local Bitcoin community would be vital, as that is what teaches other businesses that Bitcoin acceptance is good.

In return, we will thank you profusely on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/bitcoincoop). Or you can just join the Cooperative. Then you can convince more venues to accept Bitcoin, and get referral bitcoins for doing so!

Thanks a bunch!  I was afraid I would have to learn the Spanish language and fly to Mexico. Hopefully someone notices.

Gurmeet does Corona specials, sometimes. We also sometimes have him give discounts to those who pay in BTC. Wink

Various peoples in the U.S. and mexico might be interested in Bitcoin for the whole remittances process.  Being able to send money instantaneously (and inexpensively) has its perks!

I'll be visiting PV in Feb. I told the wife that I wouldn't be surprised to see a number of vendors there readily accepting BTC on this visit. She ridiculed me soundly.

It'd be nice to have the last laugh. Or at least to be able to make at least one purchase there in BTC.

Watching.

Hey, that's great! I hope you'll pay Gurmeet a visit. Part of the way we've been convincing restaurants to accept Bitcoin is that we provide free tech support, and Gurmeet might have questions when he's at his Indian restaurant (and some other venues, maybe) in Puerto Vallarta. He'll be happy to give you a discount.

If anybody can get there before that, though, that will be good. You'll get a beer on the house, at least.  Smiley

We can talk to Gurmeet about it. I want him to have the best options for exchanging; he's into the idea of doing that at a venue he owns in PV.

Cool. We stay at a resort on the beach couple miles N of the Malecon. All buses and taxis for getting around. If his place is near town, we could stop by. What's the name, and where?

Mexico is definitely a place open to BTC! I think that even the border towns could really benefit from the use of BTC, and the tourist districts, especially in Baja!

Love it.

This is cool - the restaurant is only a couple km south of our lodging.

This is almost cooler - I think I ate at the Vancouver location a couple months back. It was likewise very near (blocks) my lodging.
