I hope she continues to "Kang" the fuck out of these forums, and helps the little boys in here grow the fuck up.

I aspecially hate the ones that put crap in serious development threads.

First page posts like:

"lol aint gonna join 1ghs pool."

"this webapp is crap why would anyone want this?"

It's worth noting that she made that criticism when the policy was much more onerous than it is now.  At the time, you needed 50+ posts to be let out of the newbie area.  The time requirement may have been higher as well, I don't remember.

It's still onerous.
Here's my very first post - from June 22.  A pointless rant into the ether - that only other newbies might have read.

I don't think the newbie restriction thing is made obvious enough to new signups.
I wasted time with different browsers, checking my email system etc to see if I'd missed an instruction..

Please be a bit more considerate of the newbies who sign up.

Make the newbie posting notice bigger and bolder.
Send a confirmation/intro email.
put a notice about the newbie restriction status in the profile section too.

Disappointed.  I signed up to make a specific comment on a particular timely issue.
I guess a bit of newbie collateral damage is all part of the war on spam eh.

As for fixing it, I don't think this forum can be fixed.  I believe the best course of action is to move this forum to another domain and completely dissociate it from bitcoin.org, which is the de-facto face of the Bitcoin project.  This is supposedly going to happen, but it's taking a long fucking time.  It would be nice to have a well-run merchant/consumer support forum, but having no official forum at all is better than Bitcoin associated with this cesspool.
I'd heard that the developers would be moving.  Perhaps a complete dissociation is indeed the only way.

If you can't handle the Internet and you can't pick out the valuable information within with trolls, criticism, hatred, stupidity...
then you don't belong on the internet.

The Internet is for letting loose what's in your head. Whether what you say is stupid or not, you say it anyway. We aren't here to preserve your precious little feelings.

If someone doesn't like what you post, they will be sure to tell you in the subsequent post.

An idea that can pass the toughest internet trolls is an idea that might actually work.

Bitcoin: Only for the most hard-core channer veterans.

Yeah, that'll work.

Seriously.  I think even Jesse would be like "dude, is the point of your post to insult others and back me up or are you trying to back up back Bitcoin?"

It's still onerous.

It may well be.  Either way, it clearly isn't working.

Don't like it? Try www.disney.com.

I'm still here, obviously.  Thing is, I'd like to be able to use my coins to buy things from the overwhelming majority of people that "aren't hardcore enough for the internet".  I'm sure you agree, even though you probably don't have the guts to back down from the idiotic position you've taken.  The chan-tards alone don't have much to offer, unless all you're after is drugs and child porn.

But a troll is a troll.  This thread is just in the wrong forums and brings back up the great idea of beating this poor dead horse (well, dying "My intention was to bring an issue that appears buried - out into the open a bit").

As if the post on reddit.  Or the thread discussing the post on reddit (on the same page this thread is appearing on), discussing the same things, when it all should be taken to PM to a mod, this isn't a place where the public makes the rules, that is why there are plenty of other Bitcoin forums Smiley

You're the one shit posting in every topic related to this since the original one. Trolling is an art and you sir may infact be a master. Or just a shit talking meme spewer...

She's right of course. I would never have bothered becoming a member if I had to go through the degrading "newbie" stage and beg for proper access. On the other hand that wouldn't necessarily have been a bad thing. It would have saved me from wasting a lot of time discussing with narrow minded libertarian extremists without a clue about how real world economy actually works.

LOLOL I didn't even know who Jessy Kang was until I found YOUR BitCoinPorn thread via Reddit, where everyone at /r/bitcoin was laughing at you pwning yourself by brushing off advice like a n00b from someone experienced in that industry.

Proof: Here is the thread at reddit. The guy who submitted it (not me) gave it this title: OP wants to open a porn site with bitcoins but can't take criticism from a porn star offering him valuable advice. ABSOLUTE GOLD!

I like quality posts and people who contribute to forums. She was contributing quite a lot while taking flak for it. Now that I finally saw a thread giving respect to someone who clearly earned it, I had to do a bit of cheerleading.

This ain't the first time I've seen a woman who works in the adult industry prove to be the most intelligent one in the room.

EDIT: be sure to click on that link and read the comments on the Reddit thread. Everyone in there is saying the same thing I'm saying.

I have to agree with the OP.  In reading some of her old posts, there seems to be a censorship scandal developing here.  Relevant on topic posts where buried by moderators.  This for me is scandalous in a forum on a monetary system that is entirely designed around freedom and equality.  So far examples Kang's "bad behavior" provided by mods is rather more damning of the mods then of Kang.

Please post evidence of her 'Trollish' posts.

She strongly advocates an uncensored board...
The advantages of having an open forum with censorship limited to true spam, IMHO overrides the inconvenience of some posters having to scroll down the page a little bit.
...and then she wants to get rid of the politics forum.

This kind of inflammatory language is very trollish:
What side are you on? Are you TRYING to sink Bitcoin?

Excessively criticizing the board as Jessy Kang does is a big red flag, as is constantly using your own offline "qualifications" to back up your arguments.

Like I said, though, while she sounds trollish, I don't believe she is a troll. None of her posts have ever been individually deleted.

The point of moderators is to remove viagra adds, not shape the discussion, or to have an opinion about someone supporting their arguments (good or bad) with references to their offline qualifications.

The criticism of the newbie section is on topic and salient.  A better system has been implemented by many hugely successful open forums such as /., hacker news and others. You needn't heed the well intended advice about the boards organization, but actually moving and locking threads, or expressing *any* subjective opinion by mod-ding is a big no no in anyone's book.

Moderators such as Atlas who are busted moving threads based on opinion overstep their authority and should be shown the door.  As a reader of this forum who wants to reduce noise as much as the next guy I do not support this behavior, and respectfully ask that such modding stop.

In my humble opinion, the solution to both of these issues (newbie section causing a barrier to entry, and inappropriate over modding vs spam management) can be solved with a properly implemented up voting system like reddit, /., hacker news, et al.

And who the fuck cares what gender Jessy Kang is?  Get over it, it's off topic.  For all you know I'm gay, also off topic.  Posts about misogyny vs wightnights, are absolute non sequiturs (just to be clear not a moddable offense however, you can keep posting non sequiturs, and I can keep telling you not too. "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.").

This thread...

Aint worth my bitcoins Wink

But it is a thread.

That references another thread.

http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=28169.0

That is making reference to yet another thread

http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=20984.0

It doesn't get more epic than this.  Except for when you bring in reddit.  Then you have a reddit talking about the thread

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/imfa5/op_wants_to_open_a_porn_site_with_bitcoins_but/

And then a reddit talking about the thread that is talking about the reddit.

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/ink3l/btc_forum_comments_on_a_reddit_thread_commenting/

Certainly there is NO trolling involved in ANY of this AT ALL, ALL THESE POSTS WERE MADE WITH GREAT INTENTIONS FOR THE BETTERMENT OF THE BITCOIN COMMUNITY Cheesy

And it definitely has nothing to do with anything but the original topic that was being discussed, some guy wants to start a cam site and does not react well to advice.  I am enjoying every layer of this bullshit lol
