That is not the topic of this thread.

j
You are right.  It is about a new term called "Kanged!", how silly of me lol

No, it is about poor forum management.  Which I too am concerned about.

She's right of course. I would never have bothered becoming a member if I had to go through the degrading "newbie" stage and beg for proper access. On the other hand that wouldn't necessarily have been a bad thing. It would have saved me from wasting a lot of time discussing with narrow minded libertarian extremists without a clue about how real world economy actually works.

Fuckin-A.

A lot of people are. I'd also prefer if bitcoin.org linked a simple technical dev/merchant support forum instead of this anarchy. But it simply isn't going to change, the admins like it the way it is now. The "Kanged" thread is already pretty old and it's been discussed to death there.

The people late to the party have the loudest voices in this matter.

I would love to see where Jessy and Vegetta are currently posting together and fine and in harmony, respecting each others thoughts on their respective views on the adult industry, Jessy being able to produce thoughts unhindered by shit attitude, Vegetta actually just taking in some advice with no response other than a nod, oh, it would be a fabulous world.   The two should do it just so they can put a seal on the bullshit they has come out of that thread.  Or not, I must admit the whole thing has been making work pass by fucking quick today lol

I agree that the Jessy/Vegetta thread is entertaining. But it uncovered an issue with inappropriate modding, that I for one was not previously aware of, and now that I am aware of it I am quite seriously concerned about it.  If indeed other people are concerned too then I'd like to see that issue get focused on in this thread (or be given a link to a more appropriate thread).  The Jessy/Vegetta entertainment thread can continue on elsewhere.

It is, however, not my intention to insult the owners of this forum or solicit negative feedback, rather I'm hoping there is a way to fix the issues that have been brought to light.

And I agree with everything you just said in this post.  Let us all move on from the humor and entertainment of that thread from the past and keep pushing on with bettering the forum.

BTW EVERYONE YOU CAN BETTER THE FORUM HERE http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?board=24.0

Or at least have a better chance of it becoming better.   Better try.

Ninja Turtle Hoodies.

Expect to see this thread again in.. eh.. I give it under a month before there is a new batch of white knights inspired by the Bitcams thread of the past, so they feel they will rehash it again.

This will be under the facade that it is about the rights of the people and the board and etc, but you would never realize it by reading the content of said threads (like now).

It starts to make a lot more sense if you ignore posts by and replies to bitcoinporn.

So maybe you think vegetta was nicely 'Kanged' (A verb to describe ownage by Jessy Kang) in the thread so kindly publicised via reddit.

She's a long timer in the porn industry, and she made some sound advice that was not listened to by the young startup. This is not uncommon of. I grasped her advice and understood it clearly. In many businesses marketing is essential to succeed. It's not always enough just to make a service. So listening to those who's been in the business for a long time, only makes sense, and and least having some humility towards their advice is smart.

The saying goes: "A smart man learns from his own mistakes, a genious learns from others mistakes".

None of Jessy Kang's posts have been individually deleted. A few of her posts were unfortunately caught in a poorly-advised merge of an ex-moderator of the newbies section. (Moderators no longer have the ability to merge topics due to incidents like this.)

I've said myself many times that the newbies section is not optimal, but I believe it to be better than nothing and better than any existing SMF mod.

The point of moderators is to remove viagra adds, not shape the discussion, or to have an opinion about someone supporting their arguments (good or bad) with references to their offline qualifications.

The criticism of the newbie section is on topic and salient.  A better system has been implemented by many hugely successful open forums such as /., hacker news and others. You needn't heed the well intended advice about the boards organization, but actually moving and locking threads, or expressing *any* subjective opinion by mod-ding is a big no no in anyone's book.

I'll express my opinions freely, and I expect other moderators (and other members) to do the same.

Exactly. This was a serious thread, intended to discuss what I'm sure at least a few of us think is an important issue - that of forum usability, wider perceptions, and moderator/admin behaviour.

Thanks to theymos for at least leaving it in the 'general discussion' area for a while.
I appreciate the subject matter is more suited to 'meta' where it's now been moved.

All attitudes and e-peen brandishing aside i have only been a member of this forum for a short time. I read exponentially more than i post. while the original Jessy/Vegetta thread did show alot of attitudes and etc possible mod interference that is not the most important problem. The most important problem at least in my opinion is the fact that people get too bent on nonsense. (I am guilty also)  This board is basically the face of bitcoin so if more and more people come here to try to learn about bitcoin they first have to get out of newbie land then when they can ask a question in an appropriate place they have to wade through a bunch of e-peen swinging attitudes and other nonsense before they might find bits of useful information.

So to make what could be a longer story shorter think about how you would want to find out about bitcoins if you didnt have a clue. Would you want to wade through many thread of repetitive crying about things that arent important on the larger scale of things or would you want to get information from people who know what you are trying to find out. While this board is always entertaining it does not paint a very good picture of what bitcoins are and what the potential could be. This makes it very hard to send people here and get them to understand what is going on.

If you want bitcoins to be taken seriously to either be used in its current form or to spawn a good successor that can be taken seriously bitcoins should have a better more friendly and informative face. Just my 2 cents

We're trying to start a Bitcoin Q&A site on Stack Exchange.  You guys should join and help get it off the ground, so we'll actually have a decent place to send people who are curious about Bitcoin.

From the list of her posts, she hasn't posted anything on the forum for over a month now.  Too bad.  I miss her posts. such an interesting person.  An 'intellectual whore" what a trip.  Has she given up on Bitcoin? or is she just posting somewhere else?

I think she's just busy. Being in the porn industry, her inbox is constantly stuffed.
(ba-da-BING! thank you. I'll be here all week...)
On a serious note I did the same as you. After reading her intelligent posts in that thread I checked to see if she had other posts but noticed it had been a month since her last login.

I used to day trade Bitcoin successfully. Then I took an arrow to the knee.

She did mention wanting to change to a different identity on this forum, but I haven't seen any others with the same posting style as her.  She's probably just not active here any more.
