You aren't guaranteed legendary till 1030 activity. Plenty of time to contribute and earn 500 merits.. if not do you really deserve legendary?

I've been preaching to newbies. But personally I need to get to 1k merit and get the activity.. look at it as a challenge not a problem

From what i understand you will receive merit according to the minimum requirement of your rank. In your case 500. You have already received 500 merit.
In my case 0 so i will have to start from scratch. I don't think anyone has been screwed over. It actually helps in my opinion.

Then what are we going to do with the accounts that are currently shitposting? If we were to allow this, then everyone would be asking for this when its their turn, doesn't make sense. If we implemented this, go on with it. It isn't unfair for anyone if you can post constructively and get merited for it.

I don't get the point for you to push for a legendary though. It's pretty much the same as hero member and I like it being more exclusive.

Sorry mate I disagree, plenty of shitposts from hero and legendary members. We need to lead by example and 100% not bitch and moan. This means everyone needs to step the game up.

In the not to distant future campaign managers will be using merit instead of activity to chose people to add.. Think about that for a while

Care to explain how ? You need 500 to reach next level. The new member needs 1000. Which is harder ? You should be happy that you got these by default and are at a respectable level as you joined the forum early. Those who move on to new levels will be pure genius. This is more relevant in case of higher rank members.

I decided that the previous allocation was too unfair in this area, so everyone with activity >= 775 got 500 more merit if they didn't already have 1000 merit (and also Lutpin). No extra sMerit, though.

And according to this thread, The forthnightly periods are 1/16, 1/30 and so on

I'm almost in the same situation as you, except I have a few more months until I am eligible for Legendary. Here's the major difference: I'm not worried about my merit. I could give one fuck less about fake clams so that I can rank up; that's not where my focus lies. My focus lies on trying to curate and create and contribute to great discussions about bitcoin, crypto and its technology here, and I know that in doing so, my merits count will go up naturally and organically.

It's been days and days of nothing but bitching about the merit system. I know I can't be the only one who actually doesn't care one way or the other about it? I give my fake points to posts that I feel are constructive and contributing, and the same happens for me. Not a big deal, but it truly perplexes me how something as simple as these internet points are the focus of dozens and dozens of conversation, and hundreds of whiny members. Yeah, it's controversial, but I feel that honestly, if your intentions as a user were for the best interest of the forums, you wouldn't care so much about how this merit system slows down your progress... progress of what, exactly?

Maaaaan...I waited until 1020 1022 (or whatever) activity before I made legendary, so I don't want to hear any bitching about this.
You got plenty of time to get the merit points, but I do feel ya.  Aside from the fact that this forces people to work for their swag, I think it's turning out to be a good idea.  I think a lot of noob shitposters will give up, because they don't stand a snowball's chance in hell of ranking up to Hero in the lifetime of the universe.  We'll probably run out of bitcoin addresses before that happens in most cases.

Well, in non-retarded signature campaigns you also have to post some evaluable sentences. So more or less they are still contributing something.
I think the cause of the complaints more likely the starting merits. Little bit unfair to those who were close to rankup and...well... we all know legendary shitposters and trolls who are unaffected by the changes.

Yes, I can admit that merit system makes more difficult to rank up.

For example my case : English is not my mother tongue so I'm not as good as "the great poster" so even though if I make a great post, Nobody give me any single merit. They only care with other "great poster" but it's reasonable since this forum is already in critical stage of spamming.

All I can say for OP, adapt or just leave this forum.

The recent addition of the merit system along with the abuse of the new additions to DT2 will make it much harder for those tagged for invalid reasons to gain merit.

I’m not sure about you but id think twice about awarding merit to someone with negative trust.

The merit system seems good for new members and removing the low level posts and single sentence posts, but from the looks of it lots of older members who have contributed to these forums are being left behind and forgotten about while they try to address the problem of spam.
