Do what's practical.
For some that may mean keeping the coin as a long-term investment, hoping that the community as a whole will spearhead their financial success. For others, it may be getting into the trenches and developing
BTC related merchandise, games, auctionhouses, miners, etc. Still for others the wonderment of bitcoin is enough, and they'll squander away their earnings on negative expected-value games for hopes of riches.

improved.
Going back to your question, the practical thing for me is to learn as much as I can about these abstractions, so that I may one day help improve upon them.
If you're looking for something a little less nebulous, I'm a math and comp-sci double major, so it'd probably go toward books
