I saw there are a lot of topics about undervalued coins, but I did not find any about overvalued coins. Smiley

I hope everyone agree that there is no point to talk about some pumped crap. So let's only talk about coins that should have real value, but for some reason are overvalued right now.

As for me, I think the most overvalued coin today is Ethereum. I don't understand why does it cost so much. It is not decentralized. It is not limited, so there is no deficit. Nowadays it doesn't look innovative. It is not even great as a cryptocurrency. Of course it is great for ICOs, but most of the ICOs are crap. Smiley Most of this coins will die in future. So it's just a hype and nothing more. Smiley
Well ethereum has smart contract and a lot of people are using it for ico, crypto kitties etc so it's certainly not overvalued. Bitcoin is overvalued because it is useless as currency and only act as a digital gold/speculative asset. Trx is overvalued because no matter what kind of potential it has, right now it only has a whitepaper and can't justify that kind of marketcap.
Pretty funny to hear that Bitcoin is useless as currency while it is used as currency since 2009 and still has a great success. Smiley When big company wants to support cryptocurrency, it definitely will add bitcoin, not ethereum. Smiley Smart contracts is a great technology, but who will we need ethereum without it? Not a lot of people. Smiley Because it is only about ICOs. While there is a lot of hype around ICOs, there is a lot of hype around ethereum. 2017 was a year of ICOs, but I'm pretty sure that in 2018 we will not see so much of them. Just because finally everyone will be tired of these crappy coins. Smiley IMO

p.s. cryptokitties are crap Smiley

Most overvalued coin?

0. Ripple, must be ~0.20$
1. Ripple
2. Ripple
3. Bitcoin Gold, must be under 50$

Most undervalued coin?
1. Dash
2. Monero/Zcash

+upvote for this, XRP lovers must take a close look on the charts, seems ~0.20$ is legit price lol

Ripple is a project which has its flaws, and also has its pros. I for one have held on to a little bit of ripple for months now, and it has given me very nice returns.

Going back to the OP, to decide which is the most undervalued coin, we should probably start looking at coinmarketcap's most valued, and decide if that value is legitimate. Bitcoin is clearly the culprit, it is definitely the most overvalued coin at this moment. It doesn't perform nearly as well as some other coins do, its earned some of that price being branded the digital gold, store of value etc etc, however the majority of that price is hyper inflated by the media. Turn on the news, grab a paper, or scroll through some news portals online - how often do you see the word bitcoin compared to last year? How many stories you can read of bitcoin millionaires?

People love the hype, and want to be part of it...

i certainly do not know all the coins, but lately I have noticed two coins which seemingly out of nowhere occupy places in the top 10 of all coins: Tron and Cardano. I took a closer look at these two coins and realized that there is only an idea behind these coins and that the implementation is still a long way off. Although the intentions and technologies are described in great detail in the respective whitebooks, this does not justify a billion-dollar market capitalization for a long time.

Well, for me the most overvalued coin are Bitcoin and Ripple.
They have no strong project but only because Bitcoin is the mother of all Cryptocurrencies and Ripple had become the most anticipated Billion coin supply but both of them have no community contributions.
There are a lot of undervalued coins today, they should be invested than those two coins I mentioned above.

IMHO there are a lot of overvalued coins in cryto) But top 3 in my list is IOTA, XRP, EOS. First two are fully centralized and price all depends on new and hype. Eos have very strange ICO.
Eth has a great price but also has a lot of usage in crypto. Only problem I see with ETH is an unlimited supply.

In my opinion, All hard fork coins of Bitcoin are the most overvalued cryptocurrency, copying Bitcoin source code and labeling it with another name that has "Bitcoin" on its name, with almost whole supply are pre-mined that are being distributed to all people that holds Bitcoin so that it will have a value coming from thin air, especially Bitcoin Cash that is trading over $1000 without having any use. Another overvalued cryptocurrency is Stellar Lumens, it is just a copy of Ripple so I can't see any special about this cryptocurrency, and it is now #6 in market cap lol.

I will not agree with the viewpoint of the author of this post. Ethereum true price is larger, and it is not undervalued. In my opinion, Bitcoin Gold is the cryptocurrency that should not cost so much.

I am seeing some of the tokens are overvalued compared to their development and which are mostly utility tokens who are collected funds from people for their future development.

There are many overvalued coins out there if you take into account their performance and price. However, even though I think that Bitcoin is one of them, it does not mean that it will ever be second. In overall Bitcoin is pretty crappy.

As for me, I think TRONX, EOS, and IOTA are overvalued altcoin in the market especially EOS since this project only have the whitepaper and people invest more than 7 billion USD for the idea.

Oh crap why ethereum ? its not overvalued coin because ethereum platform was given most of the cryptocurrencies to use the blockchain technology.BCash ot bitcoincash for me is the most overvalued coin it is just  a copy of bitcoin with some tweaks higher blocksize?and faster tx confirmation? Nah if the lightning network will be implemented Bcash will surely come to its end, another coin that deserved to be the top overvalued coin is XRP the most centralized cryptocurrency coin which is being backuped by the bankers.

Agree with the above comment. Got to be the forked Bitcoin versions.
EOS, Ethereum are getting a lot of mentions and I do not understand that.

Ethereum has proved itself massively as somethng different to Bitcoin and EOS is that again, but in an earlier state.

EOS might have a lot of money, but they are also doing lots of development which is very active, they are taking things slow, proving concepts internally (Steemit), which I feel is a very good way of going.
I noticed their Dawn 3.0 is in Alpha now too, and their value reflects in my opinion.
