I've never tried DotA (or LoL), but I don't think I like the genre very much. I've tried DotA 2 for a short time but I never finished the tutorial.

DotA seems to be mostly about fast mouse reactions, and knowing characters + skills by heart. Is this true?

Elite 1984? It looks like Space Invaders or Asteroids, but apparently it's a space sim like FTL? I have to try it in my free time Smiley

The world equity and currency markets.  The graphics suck but winning really pays.

Is that your full-time job, or just a hobby? Looks like great fun to me.

I think the last (good) game I've played was the Walking Dead. I just finished it (again) yesterday, and I can't wait for Season 2 :-)

400 Days DLC is boring.

Give it a shot. It gets more and more impressive as years go by - what they were able to cram into couple of tens of kB of RAM, and process at 1MHz. 3D graphics, an actual auto-pilot, inertia, radar, thousands of worlds with different markets to trade between, missiles, flares, even some AI swarm algos controling groups of ships.

Well, it is quite easy to know the heroes skills. And you don't really need to be fast with the mouse.
I mean, not like a FPS (counter strike). It is a strategy game, so you have more delay to think and play Smiley

You have 2 teams, at both sides of the map, and you have to attack ennemies and creeps in order to get gold (you get gold when you last hit an ennemy hero, unit, or tower). With the gold you can buy items to make you stronger.

Not to forget an adequately pleasant rendition of Richard Strauss' "Blue Danube Waltz" (at least on the C64)

Occasionally the Humble Bundle (https://www.humblebundle.com/weekly) will have DRM free games for Linux.  The last game I played was Defcon.  The only winning move is to play against me.  I have never won.

I played Defcon a couple of years ago. The concept is pretty interesting (worldwide nuclear war), but the gameplay is quite boring. All you do is wait for the big missiles to launch :-)

Command & Conquer
Garry's mod

C&C is one of the only RTS games I enjoy, along with Age of Empires.

I have Garry's Mod, but I don't really see the point of it. It's more like a tool for manipulating 3D models than a game (unless you count mods like Trouble in Terrorist Town).

- Minecraft

- AssaultCube

- And Yet it Moves at the moment, but it should be done in a week.

Minecraft is a 'classic', I think people will still be playing it 20 years from now :-)
AssaultCube looks like a crappy CS clone. And Yet It Moves doesn't look really fun either, although I haven't tried either game.

Has anyone here tried Broforce? It's going to be released on Steam soon, and the prototype is quite fun with 2 player local multiplayer. I can't wait for the full version of the game to come out.

Yes. I was including "Trouble in terrorist town" I see it very similar to Minecraft otherwise, making what you want in a game with a 3d aspect. However, I much prefer Minecraft because it has much more to offer.

Command & conquer is such a good franchise. I like red alert, generals and even the first person shooter renegade. They are very old games which I still play for time to time when I have a little free time.
