The Merit System was created to reward the posts or threads that offer great contributions to this community - be it new knowledge, great research, a thought provoking question, or a bit of comedic relief.

If we expect good contributions from each member of this community, then providing education, resources, and support to the newest members among us is the reciprocal part of that expectation.

Here's a list of some of the best posts/threads that can be found in the Beginners & Help board. I encourage all of you to continue the list going as new resourceful threads and posts are made.

And I propose that we dedicate a merit source to the Beginners & Help board to acknowledge those that seek the deep insights from our Community's elders and those that help Newbies find their way.

Cheers, HabbyB.
---------------------
The List

(1) Newbies - read before posting - This is probably the most cited thread in the Help & Beginners board, all Newbies need to read it, so many don't...until given the hyperlink. The current 29 merit is far too low compared to its value to the community.

(2) [Overview] The one thread to link them all - Arguably the most comprehensive list of education-related links and resources in this entire Forum. It's locked, it should be raised to the rafters - sticked as a banner at the top of the board!

(3) Terminology - An incredibly long list of definitions for common terminology or jargon used in the cryptocurrency world.

(4) Newbie All-Day - Ask All Your Bitcoin Questions Here! - Wow, if every Newbie could stumble upon this thread most of their initial questions would be answered.

(5) [Guide] Handling splits: UASFs, BIP148, etc. - A commentary of the highest order on coins splits and hard forks.

(6) Most Common Mistakes Of A Newbie - Asked by a Newbie, to help improve the actions of Newbies. This is the type of attitude the merit system seeks to reward!

(7) How to sign a message?! - Educates Newbies on how to add or ask for an additional layer of verification to their transactions. It's been fairly well merited, at about 100 today, and remains an important part of the education of people new to crypto.

(8 ) A warning about Alt Coins - ok, this is an old one but it needs to be resurrected. The ICO market is bigger today than any time previously and the bubble hasn't popped. And Newbies, more than any other group, need to be aware of the risks that come with chasing alt coin ICOs.

(9) Which Bitcoin Wallet Is The Most Good And Convinency - Posted by a Newbie at the time, this person asks a simple question that every single one of us asked ourselves when we were new. And this guy asked for advice from the Legendary, Hero, Senior, and Full Members of the time. This is a perfect example of how a Newbie jumps in on this Forum to get good advice from the right people, and now this person is a Hero Member.

(10) $10,000 to invest - what would you do? - Once a Newbie knows how to this thing of ours works, they need to make some decisions on what to buy. This thread provide a good discussion the various approaches to investing in crypto and how to hold on for dear life.

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

Those are great posts you have listed, especially Terminology and How to sign a message. I made one activity points calculator for the newcomers, I don't know if it will fit in the great list but you can give it a try.

It's very important I feel that those that help the newbie's are recognised for their time and effort, I've come across some of these threads before in my search for knowledge and will look in to some of the others you've listed. I feel as though two of Lauda's posts that are actually pinned in the beginner's and help section should be included, I'll link them below in case you decide to, they will perhaps have an overlap but they're really valuable resources when starting out.

Good idea, but i think we shouldn't forget give merit for good posts at Development & Technical Discussion.

Absolutely! And after I started this thread hear I realized it would have been more impactful in the Beginners & Help board. If you recognize the best contributions and have the merit talk in each board more people within that board are going to be willing to started gifting their sMerits around.

Ah, thanks for the nod! You're right, I changed the subject to say "Threads". It really is the solid threads I've listed here, which start with a post but are more valuable because of the discussion they inspire.

Feel free to add other threads you believe are worthy of mert from the Beginners and Help board.

Hi Mods

Please pin (or sticky) this thread on META or whatever forum you deem appropriate for it.
It is really  a good collection.

I will also suggest to lock this thread, and whenever somebody find some more useful thread they can request and add to it. So no more increase of post count in this thread. (Small, concise and fully loaded with information).

Good idea, but i think we shouldn't forget give merit for good posts at Development & Technical Discussion.

Im newbie and i dont know where really to go,i only post in trading discussion and economics only, now i try to go in here, and i read this rules of how to have a merit,it really helps for us newbie how to get some merits, but truly is it ok if i only post/answer in a simple sentence only as long as its related to the questions? Im not a type of person who has a deep meaning/definitions only if i understand and free to answer whats on my mind and heart.

Theymos,

I've come across another fantastic, merit-worthy thread/post in the Beginners & Help board.

"Be Careful When Logging In" - is a warning against logging into fake Bitcoin related sites. This example is for Binance, the URL is a fake and an attempt to log in leaves user and password information with the scammers.

We need more threads like this! I'll always be looking for and supporting the best contributions for the newest members among us.
