I suggested them who bought at that price to not look at their portfolio in USD, i personally keep buying as much as i can, no matter the price. Even though i'm HODLing but you know it's painful seeing the price crash down, although the price will be recover. The point is just to buy low and sell high and what if the price keeps going down? just Hodl them until zero

that is good for you and I really like the idea for keep buying no matter how much the price because we still have a chance to see the price increase again and even it will make a new high price. you are right, it's painful to the price down and we cannot do anything but as long as we can control the emotion then everything will be fine. but I don't think that the price will go to zero because with many of people which involve in bitcoin, I am sure that they don't want to see this too.

I have a friend who bought bitcoin during this peak season. When the bitcoin price was 18-20k USD. Now he is sad and disappointed seeing that the current price has dropped to 50% and more and he is afraid he is going to lose all. In short he lost his hope and faith in bitcoin already. Has anyone here did the same as he did? If you did invest in that amount what did you do to your bitcoin, did you sell it or still holding it?
I have friends too that invested while its at peak but before investing I've oriented them that when they invested to bitcoin, I won't earn from their money and the market is unpredictable and very volatile. I explained that its possible to go higher but there's also the possibility that it can go opposite so right now I'm encouraging them to keep on holding and if someone wants to cut loss they can do it but don't ever regret when the price starts to increase again.

Rookie mistake but I can't blame your friend for his interest especially during that remarkable peak. However, I hope that before he engaged himself with Bitcoin, he should have known that unfortunate things such as what is happening today is bound to happen in this uncertain world of cryptocurrency. Just a piece of advise, if he decides to pull out what he has invested now then he would just end up losing more, so just tell him to be patient. Bitcoin will get its rythm back, you just have to give it time to do so.

The idea of hodling on will surely not be easy at this time but taking a good loss may not be the best choice either. I think they shouldn't do panic sell and make profit in future.

it was the same as me when bitcoin for the first time hit $1100, I invest it on $600, and then it's going down to $200, i was disappointed and stressed out. but well, to see bitcoin is hitting $20k, it's all worth it i guess?
so, i think it's better to hold it or exchange it into a better cryptocurrency like Ethereum, it has a great future.

Tell your friend to keep on holding the coins, bitcoin have been into price dip countless times yet still manage to recover from it. He can also opt to buy altcoins like ethereum, however it's also experiencing price drop right now. But just to cut some loses its another alternative.

If we are going to have an investment with bitcoin we need first to initiate a way for us to learn the system of bitcoin that could serve as our guide on deciding and dealing with best decision on trading. There are always a way for us to get to know the current value or price of bitcoin that could help us on deciding yet, we should always keep in mind that dealing or settling an investment with the used of bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency always have risk.

Reminds me of those who invested in Bitcoin during December 2013, when the exchange rates were around $1,200 per coin. These guys had to wait for more than three years, before their investors returned any profit.

that's normal if he was fear to lost his money because in these fews days bitcoin even can't reach to $10k and currently nothing he can do besides hold his bitcoin because if he sold it to the current price then i'm pretty sure he would be lost more than 50% from his total capital of money and hold is the best options although we can't know when the price will increase again but i'm pretty sure bitcoin can recover the price back someday

It better to keep on holding and patiently wait for another price uptrend. There is a right time to make profit and avoid selling at loss. It is a part of bitcoin to experience a correction or price consolidation and will eventually recover in due time. Try to educate yourself on the history of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies and make yourself well-informed.

I'll hold on to it if it were me. There's a good chance that it will peak again at new heights this coming 4th quarter if the last couple of years were any indication. Selling right now at a loss may be disappointing but if he will need the money sometime soon then he should. He should have researched more before buying in at a bullish trend.

That's indeed unfortunate. But to think that you he already invested ,  just hold. Bitcoin's market value is now having difficulties to increase but it would be torally worth holding it than to sell it. If you will choose to sell, you will lose money. Patience is all you need. Invest now and trust Bitcoin.

Did he planned to invest on a short term or long term?
I hope the second one, so for now the best option for him would be to hold them.

Those who invested on the peak time is gonna be very sad now but don't worry the price will recover soon, this price fall will normally occur at every beginning of the year. But hopefully it will recover at the back end and don't sell yiur coins now or you will lose your money.

I do not know anybody who bought high. The few guys I know that are in the bitcoin business, they all said it would getting too hot for them somewhen in the first week of December.
So they sold a good portion of their coins at that price. And I from all I have heared, none of them has bought back till now.
I still have most of my coins and did not sell, but I got them much earlier, before the big hype started.

For those who bought high, it's hard to sayt what is best.
Ultimately there are only two options: Sell if you think the price goes down even further, keep the coins when you think the bottom is reached.
I think the chances are 50-50.

Investment should be studied and not just by hearing some great potentials, there's a lots of people around crypto tradings who loses their hard earned money due to luck of understanding, It's better for your friend to keep holding and never to make a wrong decisions, bitcoin/cryptos have a lots of sway
and without any idea about that then its really dangerous to lose your investment, so just ask him to keep holding and forget about his money for a while
never sell when he still at loss.

They deserved it. They have a trade/investment without a proper education about it. An investment thing is needed a lot of experience and education without that I'm sure the result will same as OP friends. Personally, before I make an investment or trade, having a plan about it is essentials. In the end, some simples quotes about investments are matter, "Don't invest what you don't know".
