I'm very interested in this fork. The website looks great and professionally done. DarkGravity is one of the best PoW difficulty adjustments. I personally don't have anything that can mine SHA256, but they make great points.

I think you're the first person to directly pick up on a certain perversity to that Grin

(In seriousness, we wanted a fast-blocks, good-difficulty-adjustment sha256 coin and forking Litecoin was an ideal way to get a mature initial distribution, to hopefully guarantee community engagement. Bitcoin forks are at saturation point, and the blockchain download is onerous for anyone who wants to run a full node.)

I really like how OP included a way to protect ourselves; otherwise, if it was a scam, they wouldn't have included that.

Is there a block countdown of some sort?

I know I'm not the first one to ask but is there a list of exchanges that will support LCC or at least trade it?

These were my first thoughts about the project.  Wink

@MyAdverts: Sure Smiley To start with, if you've used a whole bunch of different receive addresses it can make your life easier to make a new receive address, and send all your coins to yourself before the fork. That way, you only have one key to import later.

1. After the fork block, create another new receive address and send all your coins to that new address. This is to protect your LTC -- remember the Golden Rule for Safe Forking: Never paste a private key that still holds live funds into ANY wallet or website -- including ours.

2. If you sent all your coins to yourself in step 1 you only need to do this once (otherwise, repeat for every LTC address you had that held funds during the fork block). In Litecoin Core, hit the Help menu -> Debug window -> Console. Type the following:

Code:
dumpprivkey YOUR_LTC_ADDRESS_HERE

3. The string returned by that command is your private key. In the Litecoin Core wallet, hit File -> Import Private Key and paste it in. When you paste an address, the wallet will offer to rescan the blockchain. If you're importing multiple keys, say No -- if you're importing a single key, or the last of your multiple keys, say Yes.

The resync process will take a few minutes; after that your wallet will show your LCC balance.

@grungie: Not yet, but we're working tirelessly behind the scenes on getting. You'll hear it here first, so just check back -- the original post will be edited as soon as we have news. Or come and join our Discord for up-to-the-minute news 'n' gossip.

@hermi: Yes! You can mine with any SHA256 hardware. It looks like there will be at least one pool ready to go right at launch. Details will be added to our website and the [ANN] soon, but hop on Discord if you'd like latest info on potential pools.

@olkah Less than 2 weeks! And actually, it keeps slipping earlier due to higher hashpower on LTC at the moment than the difficulty is prepared for. My bet would be Sunday evening some time [UTC].

The windows wallet (and wallets for all platforms) will be released as soon as humanly possible after the fork block. Our Github repo will go public before we start our release build, so you'll be able to grab the source there if you really want to be first on the block.

It's not possible to release them sooner, as we want to checkpoint the last scrypt block.

@olkah Hmmm.... that's a very good point. It's not really fair that people who can compile wallets are able to get a head start. We can't give you preferential treatment, but having chatted briefly to the team we agree that it would be better to make Github public at the exact same time we update the website and [ANN] with wallet download links. Thanks!

Remember that the block reward will scale up from 1.25 to 250 LCC over the first 400 blocks after the fork. From our simulations, 400 blocks should give DarkGravity time to set the difficulty appropriately for available hashpower, for four orders of magnitude of hashpower!

As you can hopefully tell, we really, really want to make the launch as fair as possible. If anyone has any ideas that might help with that, or that we might have missed, we're all ears.
