Hi All,

So I created a Jaxx LTC desktop wallet (which does not download the entire blockchain it seems).  Transferred suucessfully my LTC from my ledger to the Jaxx wallet.

So tonight during block height 1371111 creation, the LCC chain will recognize my balance in the Jaxx wallet at that time?  After the block 1371111, I plan to send
all LTC back to ledger wallet.  I then find and download the LCC desktop wallet (from somewhere?) then import the private keys from my [now empty] Jaxx wallet.  And I should see my balance of LCC sitting there in the LCC wallet?

Just checking I have done the correct steps before the fork tonight.
Cheers

yes this should work. you can see the private key form the LTC addresses you used in jaxx. the private key should then let you access the LTCC coins. but dont blame me if it does not work.

There may be controversy about this, some agree and some do not remember private key is an important component to save our funds.

Thank you for the detailed explanation! If it isn't obvious that I'm new to this, it will become evident shortly.  Embarrassed I sincerely appreciate your patience in advance.

I recently purchased some LTC via Coinbase to start learning the process, industry, exchanges, etc. It wasn't motivated by this Litecoin Cash announcement, so this LCC interruption to my learning is a 'deep end of the pool' exercise for me, hoping I don't f*$k it up.

I installed the official Litecoin Core wallet and 'sent' LTC from Coinbase to my LTC Core wallet, and then back to Coinbase. Everything worked and I felt a little more confident that I could still learn stuff. I purchased a little more LTC from Coinbase then moved it to the Coinbase Vault. I don't have access to private keys in the Coinbase Vault but can move it to a wallet after a 48-hour request delay (for security reasons). Based on the recent fork block estimates, I don't have 48 hours available to get my coins moveable before the LCC forks. Are my purchases and movements already in the blockchain sufficient to claim the LCC when it forks or am I screwed? If screwed, then I've learned, I will still have my LTC, and it hopefully won't turn into a missed opportunity to retire early (not that I don't wish all of you the best!  Cheesy) Thanks for any input/responses.

Unfortunately you will be screwed unless coinbase gives you the lcc itself. Only the coins you have at the fork block and after will count. The point of the blockchain is to record everyone's transaction history, so once you sent coins from the core wallet to coinbase it was updated to reflect your core wallet had no coins and your coinbase wallet had all the coins. LCC uses the same blockchain until the fork so it will also see that your core wallet once had coins but had sent them all to your coinbase account.

why some people crib here.OK,for time being assume this is another scam. What are you losing and how will it effect you ? are you sending any coins to dev or are you paying any fee.If you like collect some coins from the fork or just ignore and move on

Litecoin itself is not a real coin. They claimed it is a lighter version of bitcoin. Also please ask Charlie Lee,why he pumped up LTC to and sold all his coins at ATH ? It is a bigger scam .The conflict interest is  a BS and lie.If he really believed LTC is is baby ,he should have chosen LTC over coinbase !

BTW,I don't have any LTC or plan to get LCC coins from fork

No.

You need to withdraw it to your own wallet, prior to the fork. Or to Tradesatoshi, but I don't trust them. You might, YMMV.

I use Litecoin Electrum, since you don't have to download the whole blockchain.

As I write this, were at 1371079, so you'd best get on it.

EDIT: It appears I'm wrong, Yobit is crediting LCC. As of last night, that had not been confirmed. My bad!

Why not just make a copy of your LTC wallet.dat, rename that and put it in your LTC Cash wallet folder, and leave your LTC wallet alone?  You should have two good wallets.

Because once you use the LTC wallet.dat in the LCC wallet you have exposed your private keys to the LCC wallet. The original LTC wallet is no longer a "good" wallet at that point and should not be reused.

Dunno about the exchanges, but if you're doing it right (your own wallet), you'll need to get it and get it synced, unless they're already ready with Electrum or some other SPV wallet.

EDIT: That begs the question, doesn't it?

How long after the fork will you be releasing wallets/sources, etc?

Charlie Lee [LTC]
@SatoshiLite

"PSA: The Litecoin team and I are not forking Litecoin. Any forks that you hear about is a scam trying to confuse you to think it's related to Litecoin. Don't fall for it and definitely don't enter your private keys or seed into their website or client. Be careful out there!"
