hello

i try to install windows 10 and immediately run claymore with out update windows 10
 and same problem

if we return to windows 7

how we can run 6 gpus or more Huh?

ppl say, that only W10(not W10 per ce but WDDM 2.x) has this limitation(reserved and unusable vRAM). So prly W8.1 will work.
Also we checked and 8x1060 work fine on W7.
But you have to to this - https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/738070/cuda-setup-and-installation/8x-gpu-gtx-issue-under-windows/

However, for some reason DualMiner was crashing with 8xGPU. Two instances worked tho.

Also Quadro/Tesla owners can use TCC mode.

Hello,

I had the same problem with CUDA error - cannot allocate big buffer for DAG. Check readme.txt for possible solutions. after upgrade nvidia drivers (7 x GTX 1060 6GB) and Claymore's 11.7.

I try lbr tip but this solved problem only in half way couse trully Claymore's run OK but I had some msg from OS that is a problem with my virtual memory and the OS must shutdown Claymore's... (No matter if I changed setting for virtual memory or not)

ppl say, that only W10(not W10 per ce but WDDM 2.x) has this limitation(reserved and unusable vRAM).

After that I restored a whole system image and do some tests and... everything works fine. At now my rig works on this settings without DAG or virtual memory problem:

Win10 x64
Claymore's 11.7
nvidia drivers 385.69
OS auto update option is disabled

BTW: thare are new driver on nvidia support Official Nvidia GeForce Game Ready 397.55 Hotfix http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4661 but I tested it and they still have a problem with DAG and Virtual memory.

I think that is a problem with new nvidia drivers and CUDA, so we must wait for some fix and new version of drivers.

What works for me/my rig:

Octominer B8PLUS 8 GPU motherboard
60 GB mSATA SSD
8 GB RAM
Windows 10 1803 x64
Nvidia driver 397.93-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql.exe
8 x Gainward GTX 1060 6GB
Claymore Dual Miner v11.7 (in single mode, mining only ETH)

To get this running, I had to increase pagefile to 24GB, 16GB wasn't enough for me.

Then it started just fine, mining ~160 MHs ETH before I look into tuning these cards. No need for '-eres 0' option at my end.

Actually 24GB was probably just about enough, as my overall commited memory in task manager indicated 31.2GB of 31.9GB was in use. (so I increased the pagefile to 32GB just to be safe, as I did actually have the space for it on my tiny 60GB drive; think I need to invoke CompactOS feature in Win10).

For all the folks here telling us that their Nvidia GTX 1060 6Gb is working without problems, it should work without problems as this is a DAG size problem. The problem hits the 1060 3GB version especially in Windows 10 because this OS keeps a bit of the GPU for their in and out operation (yes even when you have made your primary GPU the processor graphics).

The DAG size is almost getting bigger and bigger above 2.48 GB actually for Ethereum and because Windows 10 keeps a bit of the GPU for its operation, the Claymore miner or any other miner cannot mine Ethereum anymore under this operating system. Nothing to do except getting back to Windows 7 or Linux in order to keep mining Ethereum until April 2019 when DAG will reach officially 3 GB in size.

Nothing to do except getting back to Windows 7 or Linux in order to keep mining Ethereum until April 2019 when DAG will reach officially 3 GB in size.

Or Win 8.1 / 2012 R2

Btw, max epoch I could reach on Server 2008 - 231, 2012 R2 - 230.
Friend of mine tried *nix(EthOS I think) - 230 max.
Server 2019 - same as Win10. Killing DWM and explorer or Core(no GUI) install does not help.

So not April, but Jan prly.

Hi there guys (and girls, maybe)!
Few months ago, when epoch 186 came and all my 1060 lost there sence, I decided to start working on Ubuntu. Now, all my GPUs are working well on linux. And I'm pleased enough! There work became more stable, true.
But you can have some troubles with linux if your gpus are not the same on one work machine.
Cheer up! In such situation you can use Windows 7

Just in Case, have you tried adding some physical RAM?

just thinking you've messing around with 6+ cards

Hi everyone,

I was tracking down this issue for a long time.  I finally resolved it 5 minutes ago.

8 gpu rig (1070's)
Windows 10
2 850w PSU's
8gb ram

1. Reset windows https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/reset-windows-10-pc
2. Set paging file to min16000- max30000
3. Install latest NVidia drivers 988.2 as of August 2018.
4. Install Claymore 11.9
5. Enable (Allow access) through windows defender if the firewall message pops up the first time you run the miner (see below for what happened to me and caused something to be blocked by the firewall)
5. Here are my claymore settings:
EthDcrMiner64.exe -epool ssl://us2.ethermine.org:5555 -ewal d029a5fa47d499e56df257a2e73617e2ae84290b.Banger -mode 1 -lidag 1

Here's how I came to the steps above:

The miner settings didn't seem to matter, but I did -eres 0 and -lidag 1 to no avail.

I upgraded system memory from 4gb to 8gb.  I think this helped allowing me to use less virtual memory.

I added 850psu (upgraded from a 550w), so now my system has 2 850psu's

I tried old and new Nvidia drivers.  Currently i'm using the latest NVidia drivers

I was on claymore 10.0 and it suddenly stopped working.  I upgraded to 11.9 and also tried 11.6, to no avail.

**Here's the key part:  In order to upgrade the miner, I had to disable the firewall.  Something with that screwed things up.  So here is what I did to fix the issue:  I did the Reset Windows option https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/reset-windows-10-pc**

Once that was done, my paging file options went from 22000max to 30000max.  So, I updated it to 16000 / 30000 paging file.  Then, I started miner and still got the error.  But the firewall popped up and said something was blocked!!  So, I clicked "allow access" on that window.  Restarted miner and boom, all working great now!

HOPE THIS HELPS!!!

My fix was -eres 0 , for gtx 1060 3gb, and this is important...do not close miner if you get errors, it will try reconnect several times, after a while miners will start w/o error.

Thanks!
I started having this issue today just on one of the three miners i have with 1060 3GB cards, ODD! -eres 0 fixed it, thank you.
