Well, no one knows how high the price will get this year but there's a high chance that it will go more that the highest price last year which is about 20k. Now that bitcoin has been more popular than ever because of the last years hype on the price increase, there are more people who will invest, hoping that the price will rise again. Although whales who have large amount of BTC may dump before it even gets 50k.

Some of his followers might start to invest and hold now so it might totally affect the value of bitcoin, but due to some whales selling or dumping, any newbies might get into panic and may cause again another down. I agree, I think $50,000 in 2018 is definitely possible. However I also believe it will be a  very volatile year, we have already seen that at the start of this year. But that only adds to my conviction.

A massive correction was needed after the astronomic rises at the end of the year.

People shouldn't panic too much, especially if they are not in the red. Price will recover, it always does. This time, there is also more and more money flowing in then ever. Coins are changing hands again, weak holders are out and getting ready to buy again at a loss when the prices recover.
