http://deals.ebay.com/blog/whats-the-deal-with-bitcoins-anyway/

I bet we will see some price action from this. Similar to wordpress adopting Bitcoin caused the price to start the huge rally from $10 to $250

Ebay will accept btc as a payment processor?
I don't think that they want to lose their paypal commission.

nah, ebay will just have a bitcoin usage fee. why wouldn't they want to get in on the game? ebay had to pay someone for a week to create that animation, so you know they are at least a little serious about a bitcoin viability.

edit:  also this thread title is misleading,  there's no endorsement going on.

That's not an endorsement, but it's pretty good news. This was more of an endorsement: http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2013/05/23/why-paypal-is-bullish-on-bitcoin/

Hopefully they will correct their knee-jerk policies quickly.

As posted before it's fishy, the post doesn't show up where it is supposed to, in http://deals.ebay.com/blog list.
If you enter "bitcoin" in the search page it turns out it was posted on August 20, 2013 4:30 pm.
It should turn up currently at this page: http://deals.ebay.com/blog/page/20/

But it doesn't.
Looks like somebody who works there is a Bitcoin Evangelist and tries to make it look as official as possible while trying to avoid detection from eBay.

Then they went through a hell of a lot of trouble to create that video, most elaborate attempt at trying to pump the price.

The comment option does not work and it is completely out of tone with the usual stuff there. So I'm thinking it is a hack. But nicely done!

Does anybody have an idea how to get blog posts up to ebay deals?
Probably, if you're a merchant there, you may simply add you own content, and once it's approved by ebay, it shows up as a deal in the blog.
If that's the case, this video means nothing.

On the other hand, Ebay will probably be working on bitcoin acceptance right now.
They're in a highly competitive market, and once their competition gets going, they better be ready.
Same goes for their competitors, obviously.

paypal is all well and good but they (evilbay) still have to pay ENORMOUS transaction fees to credit card processors...

This is a nice video, it's not an endorsement but it's not a bunch of misleading information either.  They are leaving it up to the end user to do their own research.  I like it!  I think bitcoin could fit into ebay really well and work together with paypal....  just my 2 BTC

Indeed, video already removed!

I'm impressed how much effort they took to pump the price, must be big bugs.
