Everything the OP said is true,the main reason these things happen is simply because the crypto currency market can be manipulated simply by the trend and the news and since this is a global platform some of the news coming out of Asian countries in their language might confuse people in the western countries and this is the reason these sort of fake news that would spread just like that and the market goes down.

It was already banned in China back in September 2017.   All trading platforms suspended trading in September.   Anyone from China who still trade Crypto must be using foreign platforms.   Sure, they reported that China added all crypto exchange sites to Great FireWall.   So what?  These people have VPNs!   When I was in China, everyone who visits foreign sites use VPNs.   Yes, China banned VPN as well a long time ago.   So what?  Everyone is still using it.   Just like ignoring the traffic light is illegal in China, but at every intersection, you will see people ignore the red lights... the truth!   Just because it is "illegal", does not mean no one will do it.   

So just this (one) news of China banned Crypto, it was repeatedly used to crash the Crypto market (4 or 5 times).   Do not fall for it!
1.  Summer 2017, China banned ICO.
2.  September 2017, China banned crypto trading.
3.  November or December?  China became unfriendly to crypto mining (Large-scale miners moved oversea already)
4.  January 2018.  China banned websites of foreign crypto exchanges. (VPN!!!)

So what is next?

I think that most members of the forum are already quite used to FUD and FOMO, so fake news rarely deserve the atention, at least of the senior members and seasoned investors.

We cannot stop to encounter false and bad news everywhere, even it was from Social Media, Television or well known personalities, the question is, why and what are their reason on spreading Bad and False news, the only answer was, they trying to spread FUD or they trying to control the market of crypto currencies.

If I had not seen this I would have also believed in those fake news. I agree on what you said because some of the people in this forum just want to create giveaway threads and they are using bitcoin being banned as their topic. It is because it sure does attracts a lot of newbies that are unaware of the current market situation. When they see everything red, they blame China or other countries with their clouded judgement. Fake news are spreading the social media on the whole community and some are believing it , they use it mostly in our thread just to have post , making up some stories . And thats one of the reason the marketplace volatile.

Unfortunately we live in a world now where if you heard it somewhere on the Internet it has to be true. You are completely right that in the past couple of weeks there has just been story after story about bitcoin.
Funny as many big investors missed out on the rapid climb of crypto currency values. I would not be surprised if they get involved now that the value has been driven down by FUD.
