Afra Al Dhaheri received a BA in Graphic Design from Zayed University, Abu Dhabi, in 2011. In 2014 she completed the prestigious Sheikha Salama Emerging Artist Fellowship in collaboration with RISD. She is currently completing a MFA in Painting from Rhode Island School of Design. Afra’s work is shown nationally and internationally.

In her works, Al Dhaheri expresses herself in various mediums including mixed media, sculpture, drawing, painting, installation, photography, and printmaking.

Al Dhaheri was a part of “Emirati Expressions 2011 and 2015” and worked at the Guggenheim Museum New York and the Venice Biennale 2011. In 2014 she completed The Sheikha Salama Emerging Artists Yearlong Fellowship in collaboration with Rhode Island School of Design. In 2015 she joined Rhode Island School of Design Painting MFA program. Her First Solo show was hosted by T+H Gallery, Boston.

Her exposure to different art scenes influenced her to develop a pop up art collective project where she collaborates with other artists to develop a theme for a show to work within and then curate a show at spaces alternative to the traditional art venues: “ARTwec” project.

Al Dhaheri has been invited to work on a number of site- specific installations in the past few years, including the 2014 National Day Exhibition at Etihad Gallery and exhibitions at Zayed University, Abu Dhabi, UAE.

According to roadmap in the second half of 2018 year FRESCO Alpha Version will be presented to the public and then in the third quarter of the year the test will begin. FRESCO are going to attract an artist and collectors to upload artworks to the database and try main functions of FRESCO platform.

Do you think that many artists will give preference to Fresco?

I guess so. Today, many artists remain unrecognized because they can not work with galleries which sets too difficult conditions for the demonstration of art. Fresco is a full-fledged gallery, which uses the blockchain technology to improve the trust of both artists and the public. The growth of Fres trust can be traced through open channels, thus excluding various frauds with the added cost of the pictures.

In addition to Marble House, Herndon has been awarded residencies and fellowships at the Vermont Studio Center and the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation. He currently lives and works in Providence, Rhode Island, and teaches in the printmaking department at RISD.

A user’s FRES wallet will contain mainly three key types of data: FRES Cash-related activity, FRES Trust-related activity, and artwork transactions. FRESCO Wallet will show users their Balance of FRESCO tokens and their FRES Trust Value which will be the FRES value of their artworks.

Museums, now competing on a global stage for donors and collection strength, usually lack a universally accepted methodology for valuing their collections — both in terms of dollars and prestige. With FRESCO, Museum directors and board members will be able to allocate trust value to the museum’s collection, or any other relevant artwork that may be privately held while still carrying significant artistic value. Through this process, museums are able to promote their own collections, special exhibitions and programs, and support different kinds of artists. They function as the axis of academic value in art.

As art advisor of the FRESCO team, Al Dhaheri will bring valuable insight from her extensive experience at renowned institutions and share with us her observations of the project from an artist’s perspective.

M. Benjamin Herndon is a visual artist whose painting practice involves a laborious preparation of surfaces composed of gelatin, marble dust, and pigments on linen, which become luminous grounds for minimal silverpoint drawings. These material interactions, their subtle compositional intention and optical experience with regards to the interaction of light and movement, combine in a quiet conversation that provide for moments of discovery.
