Do you know the difference between blockchain.info "wallet" and Bitcoin Core "Full node"?
Any computer that connects to the Bitcoin network is called a node. Nodes that fully enforce all of the rules of Bitcoin are called full nodes.[1]

Maybe, because SegWit still tested? Until recently, it was hard to create segwit addresses through core client. It's very wise to add something only after it will be pretty tested.
For example in avia industry it takes 1-3 years to start produce something after it was accepted (F 18 first flight - 1978 but it was introduced into production in 1983)

Blockchain.info probably gains quite some profits from the services that they provide. It isn't wise for them to stop supporting Bitcoin and abandon their profits altogether. To be fair, they did implement the weight units fairly promptly.

Maybe, because SegWit still tested? Until recently, it was hard to create segwit addresses through core client. It's very wise to add something only after it will be pretty tested.

You'll be surprised at how much they care about testing stuff thoroughly before pushing it out.
Either way, no one should be caring about Blockchain.info and they're pretty irrelevant.

probably just one full node. why would they need more than one? it would be a waste of hdd space.
they might need different server for processing transactions and other stuff
but they are non-custodial wallet so I think they don't store much of your wallet info on their server

Jokes aside, Blockchain.info probably have full node that syncs blockchain somewhere that performs all of the usual functions of full node.

However they also have software that parses information from actual blockchain, writing it into searchable database (SQL or something similar). Your API call to blockchain.info most likely does not interact with actual node in any way, it only operates with information stored in their database.

I have no idea how their on-line wallet operates, but chances are in very similar way. They only use their node to push your transactions to the web. All tx generation and signing happens in some sort of backend app.

Not sure what that question mark is about. You mentioned that you should start encouraging everyone to use Greenaddress.it, so I assume you have some experience with it. The questions I wrote were related to that. Regardless, I did some research and figured out some of the answers to those questions and it turns out they also have a 2 of 3 option for address signing which would resolve the issue I had with it about what could happen if their service did go down.

I was not aware Roger Ver had any influence on Blockchain.info.

It's a little more complicated, but it's for security. Greenaddress can't send your money themselves with this design, as you hold 1 of the keys needed for sending from your Greenaddress wallet. That means your money can't be stolen from Greenaddress if their website is hacked, the attackers would need to hack your computer too to get your signing key.

I've not used GreenAddress (I run a Bitcoin node myself to access the Bitcoin network), but they've been around for a few years now without controversy. They're reputation is, as of now, that of a good actor in the Bitcoin industry.

It would seem as if a significant number of people have had negative experiences or have lost access to their bitcoins. Other reviewers, however, claim that this is mostly out of their own neglect and not knowing how to manage their bitcoins correctly and securely. To be fair to them, other reviewers also claim that it is actually quite simple and that there are even people who complain about basic things such as thinking that the network fees go to GreenAddress themselves. Another reason I have not tried it out is that it would seem as if they might not support bech32 addresses yet, even though they say they do support SegWit. I could be wrong about some of this, however, since I have not actually used them yet.

I'm sorry that I didn't reply sooner but it was buried under my recent replies and I feel that I should provide my own experience too.

I've used greenaddress previously and I feel that the concept was somewhat okay. Personally, I feel that it doesn't provide much more security than a wallet without a 2FA enabled. Now to the negative part:

Their Android app was nothing short of confusing and buggy. There was this one time where I've sent 0.044BTC to an address in a greenaddress wallet I've created on my Android app. I was certain that I have done the 2FA correctly and I didn't set any emails. IIRC, it crashed and closed after I've created the wallet. I wasn't given any warnings about it. When I tried to send the funds, the 2FA was incorrect and I was frustrated as hell. Thinking that I can get my funds back with their timelock function, I decided to wait. However, I can't send any of the files with the fact that there is no email set with the wallet. It's $500 in today's value and its terrible to see it stuck there. Their support wasn't helpful at all.

In short, stay away from Greenaddress.it. Good idea but terrible execution.
