is it safe or risky to invest in Doge coin?

Doge Coin was created based on a joke i think it is much better if you invest in strong coin instead of those who don't really have the potential although in any investment there is always a risk and no one knows it's still your call maybe doge coin has the potential i just did'nt see it.

It is obviously VERY RISKY to invest in dogecoin. It was used as meme for many years. Don't let market cap to fool you. It is so much better to invest in real, worthy projects or coins than dogecoin.

if the problem is safe as long as the investment is bitcoin divip but my experience, I once invest my doge coin hold one year with initial capital $ 300 very little profit only 10% of my main capital. if you want to get a lot of profit by investing I suggest to invest BTC because the price of btc I believe will always be the highest of the other coin seen from the total supply coin btc just a little so much peminatnya very much from the conclusion that I believe the btc price there will be an increase

All coins investment not only Doge coins were risky to invest. Investment in coins needs to be strong enough to face the consequences of chance of price drops in the market because we were not able to control the market.

I think investing in Doge at the moment is not safe, because I think Doge prices have increased and will not increase again for the time being,  so i suggest you to invest in altcoin can increase of the price in the near future, like as NEO or CHSB.

Currently I would suggest you to wait a little bit. I always buy my dogecoin under 40 sats (20 sats if you can). Dogecoin is really periodic and until now, these cycles were always doing ~20-40 sats to ~80-160 sats.

It's a good cryptocurrency if you follow correctly these cycles  Beware, of course we can't predict the future so these cycles could break and dogecoin could be deeply forgotten, as this is a cryptocurrency where only the community counts, there is no innovation or real development behind.

I can see only haters and no haters of dogecoin, why? My opinion of dogecoin is that is a very user-friendly coin, low fees, fast transaction. Many sites use now dogecoin and always the community getting stronger. Every day dogecoin pump and don't look only the price for this... So I think definitely dogecoin is a good coin to invest but you need to be patient for this.
So I agree to invest in Doge!!

Generally, Doge original idea was a joke.  Dogecoin is a cryptocurrency like Bitcoin which was created out of an internet meme. It was meant to be a funny thing that had a lot of inside references.
But Dogecoin has been around since 2013 and has a pretty well-developed community.
But personally, as a general rule, I don’t usually recommend investing in something that is openly a joke.

But like any other coin to invest, ultimately, the decision is up to you.

Still it's one that has grown quite considerably in value over those 2 years so it wouldn't be the worst investment ever. Certainly there are better choices out there but DOGE gets too much hate, yes it's a joke coin but it's stuck around longer than most coins.

Assuming you do not wish to make any profit and simply want to have fun and learn a bit about trading then dogecoin is a good purchase. If you're looking to get rich, then doge is a risky investment. It might rise a bit in the long run but it has been around for a long time and has a purpose as a fun coin to tip other people with.

Personally I don't understand why so many people here are emphasizing the fact that it was created as a joke. Honestly, who cares how it was created if today we have a long living and established coin, accepted by all major markets? It has $16,966,200 trading volume, as of today, and it doesn't look like a $10k trading volume of a sh*tcoin. It looks impressive indeed and it means that many people value this coin.

Seriously, I think it's a decent coin, regardless of the fact that it was created as a joke. You just have to take into account the cycles one poster mentioned above, and according that theory, which I support, now it's time to buy DOGE.

Dogecoin has fluctuations where it has 50-100% swings. If you time these swings correctly you ought to make money.

I, like a  lot of people, consider it to be a joke coin. It's only value today - 2018 - is that the transaction cost is very low and it is near instantaneous.

This is not a reason to "invest" in it. It may be a reason to speculate that you could make money riding the wave. But I would recommend taking your time and energy and researching other currencies. But, your mileage may vary.

Dogecoin is one of the "first-generation" altcoins. It was created much earlier than Ethereum and Stellar Lumens. But it failed to attract much attention during the peak days of Bitcoin, in 2013-14. Generally, it is regarded as a failed innovation. I have noticed that there is some interest for DOGE now, but I am not sure for how long it is going to last.
