sci fi is my genre of choice for movies romance is way down at the bottom of the list
Where does 2001: A Space Odyssey rank on your sci-fi list? If you were to treat Teshigahara's masterpiece The Face of Another as sci-fi, how would you rank it? Do you consider 2046 to be sci-fi?

Regarding that link above which I posted, it gives me goosebumps of pleasure every time I watch it. You guys who haven't heard of these movies, let me tell you, it has a major fan base. And the middle movie of the trilogy was voted the greatest film of the 21st Century in the Sight & Sound directors poll. Something to consider.
To think there was a time when I was unaware of these films and devoid of the pleasure from having watched them.

I love romantic movies but problem is which I love not speak only do some work and end What is the English translation of this? Or maybe you could give us an alternative synopsis of your thoughts? translation: he likes porn (all 'work', no dialogue) and was sarcastically categorizing it as 'romance'

I assume you're bumping this because you want to be reminded again that Wong Kar-Wai's trilogy is still the best?
Never heard of Wong Kar-Wai, sounds asiatic. Best romance is Pretty Women for me

Yes, in a thread like this, Wong Kar-Wai's films are the definitive films to be listed at the top. His films are poetic and existential masterpieces on love and longing. That bears repeating: Wong Kar-Wai's films are poetic and existential masterpieces on love and longing.Days of Being Wild is the first in Wong Kar-Wai's loose trilogy, comprised of Days of Being Wild, In the Mood for Love and 2046. Three Times is a film from the Taiwan New Wave director Hou Hsiao-hsien. The film is composed of three segments, the first of which is absolutely beautiful. See the very beginning of it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqhLDTxODhYSpeaking of the Taiwan New Wave, and perhaps a smidgeon off topic, have you seen Edward Yang's Yi Yi? Now that's a masterpiece! I've also seen The Terrorizers from him, which is really good. But I so much want to see what is supposed to be his true masterpiece, A Brighter Summer Day. Film critic Tony Rayns says Yang's Taipei Story is excellent as well. See the trailer for Yi Yi here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8F6tSorwYqwStay tuned for a few more Asian film recommendations... Yi Yi is already in my dvd collection...but also haven't seen it yet. Yi Yi needs to be watched pronto. You're doing yourself a serious disservice by prolonging something as great as Yi Yi. It's like this: you haven't yet watched it yet, so you don't know exactly what you're missing, so you go on prolonging it. Finally, one day, you'll watch it, and you'll just kick yourself for waiting so long.

its for images and nothing more right ? Yes, but that's not the point. The point is, watch the movie and the two other films from the trilogy. You're missing out. And unlike most of the other selections in this thread, the three films are critically acclaimed in a huge way. As an example, the second film in the trilogy was recently voted in the prestigious Sight & Sound poll which polls directors world wide as the greatest film of the 21st century, and the 24th greatest film ever made. Something to consider. For the record, the film in the images thread is the third in the trilogy.

I am trying to save you from wallowing in the realm of cinematic ignorance, from wearing blinders to the extended world of cinematic treasures. I am trying to lead you from the valley of cinema where only Pretty Woman and similar films of conventional presentation reside. A new world awaits you.
