The coin that has fair distribution, working platform and tangible services with constant update on github is likely going to be good coin. Never forget about decentralized aspect of the coin you are considering investing into as well!

I liked the answer below. Of course, study coins yourself, I studied a lot of coins and still do it. I learned a lot of new coins for myself and I understand that the future is for them. I keep only those coins I believe in my wallet.

You should do good research of the project, try to find one with good working product and low market cap. It can take some time but if you thinl on investing long term that may be a strategy for you.
Reading a lot helps doing right choices.
If you consider invsting short term, than take a close look at top ten coins, with bullish market than bring some profit.

I look here at the forum about what interesting coins are, then I study this coin in more detail and decide whether to take it or not.
I would also study the competitors of the project, because they may have better product. There are a lot of similar products now. People are just copying everything. |

Nobody can be sure which coin will be ultimately good. You should see their ratings, read project whitepapers, stay away from scams, and read a lot on them. Do your own research.

I agree. Our own research is the best. We can't trust everyone telling us which coin is good. The whitepaper and the team are the best criteria for assessing the viability of the project. |

actually you can not determined if the coins are good or not. even the senior in bitcoin can not know which coins is really good, it always depends on what they experienced in holding coins that is why they can say some facts and buffs about it. some says you should research more about coins and see if its good or not. |
