Choosing the best ICO depends on your own perspective mate. There's not much to tell but I think the most important thing that you could do is to research everything about the project that looks promising to you. You should read the whitepaper and the background of the team to see if they look legit.
according to this, I agree with you because everything depends on us and the decision is also in our hands. indeed before joining, we must first investigate first. because the project fears in it there is a deception. so the most important thing we need to know is to examine it first.

You are right, but ICO is still a good trend for developers to be able to raise the funds they want, if the project has a good product, I think they will soon reach softcap, a scam project because it is abandoned by the developers, so we can see the product from the new altcoin that we want to buy before investing.

It is very difficult to find good ICOs nowadays especially if you rely on icobench. Icodrops is still better but even with it, you will have to do personal review about the project and do background checks of the team and advisors behind it.

the first thing to do to find a good ICO is to look at the manager. then look at the project development team. after that see the developed field. if the team and the market potential are good, it can be ascertained that ICO is suitable to be invested. but it all depends on you.
