 For be the core requirement for a coin to be valuable are
1. The problem the project is out to solve in the real world and the cryptocurrency space.
2. The comunity of investors and how influential they are in the cryptocurrency community.
3. The exchange  platform where the coin is being exchange.

A good project is what makes an altcoin valuable. There are exceptions to this of course. But, if a good project raises awareness and gets people to invest and the token has a use, then it is likely the altcoin will be valuable.

Even then when the good project is recognized it can fail if the developers are not committed enough to make up with the expectations of the investors. Developers are getting tired in some phase of the project development and some of them are even tired of the constant work and that they must do in order to attract even more investors.

Because of the pressure factors, they are deciding to satisfy themselves with the money the had gathered in the meantime and the altcoin they were working is slowly becoming obsolete without the investors knowing.

So, taking that in regard awareness can also be false and the people must recognize for themselves if the purpose is satisfied and if the value is just temporary.

Second is the coin's functionaility, on how it is used for its platform rather than how much it is. They way things are, any cryptocurrency can have speculative value these days. But if you really want to see your project succeed, you need a usable and innovative product, a good team of developers and a large user base, which will depend on the kind of product you're trying to develop.

In my opinion, what makes the altcoins so important is the purpose and potential of that project. An ICO project should create a revolution for cryptocurrencies, such as Ethereum, which is based on the Blockchain 2.0 technology that created the revolution for altcoins, and then almost altcoins and ICOs used that technology to generate the ERC-20 Token.

I think, the facts are not always like your opinion. Many projects have good teams. But their coins do not have good selling points.

marketing is very important. you need your coins to be well known so it will gain more value.

All those come together to usher a huge success for the altcoin. However, what really make it valuable is that product and how the people or users perceive it or see the need to make use of it. That is what is going to keep increasing the demand and as long as that is there, the value will keep increasing. Marketing strategy will obviously push the product out there, but even at that, if the altcoin has no product, it definitely has an expiry date.

I think these factors can make a Altcoin valuable. First Bitcointalk because it is the only forum for crypto related issues and also for project’s announcement by Ann thread. Second the whitepaper, roadmap and capital investments in the project. Third the team behind the project is experienced or not. Fourth and the most important community behind a crypto currency, which makes a very strong impact on its acceptance and growth in market.

Bitcointalk is just a forum and it has nothing to do with the value of an altcoin. There are so many other platforms where discussions about altcoins and so on do go on. Sure, a good community backing helps a coin a lot, but a coin or token without further development or any product that is sensible to make it usable, will definitely not have a good support and that is what differentiates a shitcoin from a good one.

The user base, If there are millions of people using the token, the token price will always be unbalanced.If nobody uses a token in real life it's useless and can go down anytime. When ICO starts checking whether they have a real product and a user base. Also check how the token should be used in the future.

Yeah, the usage is very important and this cannot be possible as long as the altcoin is just there without any product attached to it. So many altcoins are like that presently and the only thing they are good at is being pumped and dumped and such coins obviously will not last. I still believe a time will come when some coins like this will be totally flushed out of the crypto space. Product will always speak for the value of any altcoin.
