If that person holds half of the market then he can manipulate the market price. But I think there is no people as of now that can control the price. If then, they are group of whales. Yes, bunch of whales can easily manipulated the market.

Of course that is possible, and I think the best way to achieve that is by a media campaign.
That is the reason why we get all those FUD news cumulated every now and then.
These large occurences of false news is nothing more than an attempt to manipulate the crypto market. Unfortunatelly a successful one many times.
And in contrary to manipulating the market with pump and dump maneuvers the media campaigns are not even expensive.

Yes it could be, it's one of the negative thing about crypto, because its decentralised so the market able to be manipulated, but it need a huge amount and usually the whale choose the coin that is not too famous, and the whale usually has a group that called pump and dump group, the intention of the group is to manipulate crypto price

If an entity is large and powerful enough, is it possible for it to gain a monopoly advantage and manipulate the rises and falls of the virtual currency market?
Yes, and we call them as whales who hold the large part of the cryptocurrency will manipulate the price of bitcoin and will make money out of it.But the investors who need to aware of these whales or you will lose your money.

Yes, having a large amount of Bitcoin can manipulate the virtual currency market. Not only that when you manipulate the market we can buy virtual currency in a lower price. A nice play to earn. Timing is very  important if they will try to do this.

The highest number of bitcoin we have read someone held at any point in time is 1million bitcoins which is say 0.0625 using 16 million available bitcoins. The other set of category who could have that much or more than that are the exchange sites but those acting as custodians of funds. Which means its not possible for an individual to control the market. Currently its still possible for group of people to make it happen but gradually the market is getting bigger and out of control by the day.

We had experience it many times. There are few wallets around which belongs to early adopters, their transactions have a significant effect on the market. But not all the time since they want to. At first the manipulation was too easy for these wallet owners till 2015/16 but now the cryptocurrency market has grown into Billions of dollars so, it's not too simple now. Still these intelligent people know when to hammer the market to mould it according.

Yes of course. Its actually happening with bitcoin. You can see sometimes negative news would come along like black propagandas against bitcoin in order to bring the price down, sometimes or most of the time fake or edited news. The sharks are doing this to manipulate the price for them to buy very low and make the weak hands sell their coins very low.

As long as you have a necessary financial power and knowledge everything it is reachable including the manipulation of cryptomarket. What if someone spreads a fake news related to some important member of the Bitcoin community, obviously the price will react to those news...

It is possible to people with funds. In the hierarchy of traders and investors, the richest are on the top and have great potential to manipulate the crypto market. They have the power to create changes in the market because they financially confident. The people on the low part of the hierarchy jus go with the flow and they are the reactors to changes brought about by these top-most people.

it's possible.
even though the nature of cryptocurrencies is decentralized, it does not close the possibility there are some people or corporations that have a significant impact on the market. Maybe single whales don't affect too much the market movement but imagine if the combined and organized whales to move the market for their own profit.

Yes it's possible. And I think, it's happening right now in crypto industry. When the whales take a large percentage of their coins we can expect a great impact on the price, followed by that are the "weak hands" who immediately panic during a price drop. A single move of large investors  can create a big impact on the industry.

Yes, absolutely. But it needs the right timing. Like when FUDs are all over the internet, make a large sell-off and everything with weak hands will follow. Then its your chance to buy again at low price. And also when good news spreads, make a large buy order (but don't actualy buy it) and others will make higher orders than yours.

Yes I agree. One can manipulate a currency but he/she needed a enough knowledge and wisdom about it. Great timing and strategy can also do it but lack of being updated about it is an issue.

cryptocurrency is not much different like stocks when someone who has more than 25% shares sells him
then automatically the price of the stock will go down
therefore someone can just manipulate the price of cryptocurrency if he has a very large number.

In my own idea maybe it is possible to manipulate the virtual currency market especially if they can get a link on it. Some people wants to ruin the system maybe because of curiosity that brings through. But bitcoin cannot easily go down because it is very powerful and stable enough to do the process for the peogress. Even if their are times that the virtual currency will fall and for sure it will nt stick to it because it will rise and rise that is the rule of bitcoin to help and help many people.

I think it is really possible to happen, for someone to manipulate the market, especially those users who are huge holder of coins which have a bigger impact to pump and dump of prices when they pull out their wealth.

I always think that a group of billionaire can control the price of bitcoin for their own benefits. It is posible because they have a lot of money. But there is no enough evidence that they do it.

I am trying to put all the pieces of what you have said together to make sense out of it, but I just keep getting confused. Manipulation of the market is not something new already and whether we like it or not, there will always be monopoly.

Some have the resources to hold a very good position and they definitely find a way to come together to drive the market in any direction they want and all they do is emotional trading, which is where they make even more from to keep holding a better position in the market. It is like a cult as far as I am concerned, but what can we do ?

manipulation is part and parcel of the cryptocurrency market. it has always been like this thanks to two things: the small size of the market + the unregulated nature of it.

and it is a lot of different levels of manipulation. for example you can see the manipulation even in bitcoin with all the media spread FUDs and all the sell pressure that comes on at times on major exchanges to push the price artificially lower than major supports such as 10k for instance.

then we have the altcoin market which is more like a circus than a market! and everything is just a P&D-fest and whales are enjoying the free money of the newbie masses.

There is a FOMO brewing...

Yes,ai believe this is possible specially if that person is really great with hacking systems like what does the Bitcoin forum contains. Nowadays you can have everything you want without taking so much time to achieve it ,and this is just like this situation, probably there will be a time that a person with knowledge about it can hack Bitcoin just with his own power.
