Met a girl who has been working on a restaurant for mere 200$ a month with some tips in hand. On a conversation she started to elaborate about her life and in between the conversation turned towards cryptocurrency. By the time, she stated she has got 300 bitcoin in her wallet. While the price was around $10 she has given it to her Sister to keep hold of it and keep it secure. Her sister has made use of it and invested into lot of properties. Now when asked about the bitcoin, she shows bare hands. Now she was unable to do anything, and surviving with the $200+ salary per month. Don't you feel pity, it really hurts on hearing the tearful words coming out from her.
There are really people that has the courage to betray even with the most valuable person  in their life. That is because of money and greed. In your story with your friend,i feel sad about her situation,if i were her i will try to get it back to me in any means..the question is have she ever convince her sister to get 50% of it and the other half is for her sister though its too big to share for the keeper of the coins but at least she has her fair share.Another thing of my curiousity.. she can have her own wallet and why she let her sister keep it?because most people nowadays will do everything just for money, just to have wealth and thats the real fact of life so we must all be vigilant in living this world.

Yeah, that's the problem. So you can't trust anyone else than yourself when you're speaking about money, and especially crypto's. Because if someone gets you're cryptocurrencies, they're gone. With fiat money, maybe you can demonstrate that was a theft, and hopefully have them back; with crypto's they're gone forever. You can only trust your personal wallet and if you, and only you, are in possession of the private keys...

Is this true or just hoax? Whether it is true or not ignorance really affects peoples lives. I feel bad for her since I think she is still not aware of how big is the value of bitcoin that she has given to her sister. Also, lets say that she can’t get back what she already gave, I think she can start a new one for her gain additional finances aside from her regular job, it’s not like she will just regret everything forever when she can do something about it.

I think it's quite difficult to start again with a salary of 200 dollars per month, as the guy who started the thread said at the biginning... If the story is true, she had the possibility to change her life to the better (at least talking about her financial situation), but her sister robbed her of this possibility.

Sad news, can you share the link here? It's an interesting story but I would like to read the whole of it, some details like how she acquire those bitcoins, the year of the setting and others. In those previous year people have really treat bitcoin for granted, they just can see the value of it, even five years ago; there are bunch of people spending their bitcoins in foods like pizza. But after the price goes high the masses got interest and people now become greedy about bitcoins they spare no friendship and family.

Although that is terrible for her and to hear myself, it should serve as a lesson for all that we should protect our assets at all times. Unfortunate what happened here, but another lesson to protect those private keys!

Very sad story .. people and even worse .. family members, should not do that on my moral standers point o view ...

the moral of that story for me is that .... If you do not control your private key .. you don't own a bitcoin ...

If it is true than it is sad because she had given in the safe hands considering her sister would be right person to look after it. But she betrayed her and as a result now their relationship of sister ended forever and she is working in a restaurant an don other hand her sister is enjoying the life of a queen.

Stories like this are often cast as a fairytale as no one can bear witness that it actually happened. OP, it could also be that the girl wanted to get a generous tip from you after she might have given you the restaurant services by sharing a victim-like-experience. However, why anyone would allow another person keep something treasurable for them only points to lack of faith they have on the thing in question. The girl hasn't gained my sympathy. I blame her for her ordeal and carelessness.

Not really mate, because we can predict the intention of a person from their activities. The conversation got initiated from some random discussion and she initially hesited to say, as her sister is the cause. Later due to my repeated try got the sadness behind her life.

This is kind of an interesting story, I thought I had already heard all that could be said about bitcoin and the like but there  is always one more surprise out there.

just calm down, it's just a pile of papers
you just need to buy it again, but not BTC, maybe it could be another coin that the woman considers as a promising coin

Getting a care or another luxurious item would just hurt that amount in there. It would be cool own a wallet with a flat number like that.

This is a sad story  but the lesson is not to give your private key to anyone you trusted person or people.  if you want to save keep it in your self for your own safety..

This is pathetic, coming to think about how much the poor girl would have made during the most recent price surge. If she entrusted the bitcoin into her sister's hand, then the sister should be kind enough to let her have it back. This is practically after the sister has invested same and made whooping income. Wickedness everywhere.

Real story or not if somebody lost their investment in crypto they need to overcome and invest again. It's not late to get rich.
At least they have advantage over people that still don't know or still don't believe in Bitcoin.

Bitcoin ruins people if you ponder on the past.
Why didnt I buy a load of BTC at £200? Because I was unemployed and couldn't afford it. There is a always a reason you make a choice, but hindsight makes you forget them. Keep your chin up and stop being a melt.

You are absolutely right, dwelling on the past won't do anyone any good.
Better look at the future and seize new opportunities.

That's what we call tough luck! Sympathy is in the air, but things happen. Drastic at times even. But this is usually how we learn in life. Drastic sounds negative, but it usually brings out positive outcomes. We just need to learn to pick ourselves up and move forward. Self pity will not help. It will only drown you in your stupidity which can actually be addressed.

Whether this story is true or not, we surely can get something out of it. Don't trust anyone with your investments...not a 100% that is. Be smart. Be vigilant.
