I think it is so cool that you guys are helping open-source developers make money. I don't think people understand how much work goes into open-source code and how many people use it. I think this is a great idea and will incentivize more development.

What coins can you use on deconet?
Exactly... couldn't agree more. Consumers will be able to transact on Deconet in Ethereum or any approved token, including USD pegged stable coins. Additionally Deconet Tokens (DCO) are used for access, bounties, curation, and payment. Check into the whitepaper for more details https://deco.network/whitepaper.pdf

I was reading something about Deconet releasing alpha smart contracts. What will be the main use/advantage of using them?
Great question! Smart contracts are a great tool that, for example, can equitably reward all the software projects its initial project depends on, so when X conditions are met, X outcomes occur automatically without a need to pay intermediaries. They are more efficient, inexpensive and more secure than traditional systems. Blockgeeks gives a great breakdown. Two interrelated smart contracts govern the Deco.Network ecosystem, and they
will run on the Ethereum blockchain. These are the Curation and Commerce contracts which govern the modules that are listed on the marketplace and the framework for accessing them, respectively. The Curation contract, which is based on token curated registries, enables DCO holders to curate the modules that are listed on the network. The incentive structure established in the Curation contract will motivate token holders to maintain the highest quality and most appropriate supply side. The Curation contract also governs select parameters in both contracts. The Commerce contract is what enables the application developers, aka the consumers, to transact in Ethereum or any approved token, including USD pegged stable coins. Upon receipt of payment, the purchase of a license or exception is written to the blockchain. Check out this article, https://medium.com/deconet/the-new-deal-for-the-open-source-community-92567f68f3a3 for a great overview for the Deconet project, and https://medium.com/deconet/deco-network-alpha-smart-contracts-e6ac31f7ef35 for a deeper dive into how the smart contracts will work on Deconet.

Thanks so much for taking the time to explain that. It seems extremely useful and I will definitely be researching those articles you linked. I'm sure I will have more questions soon.  Cheesy

That sounds perfect. Also, thanks for your help and being so responsive. I really appreciate that in a team.  Cheesy

Do you get discounts for using DCO instead of ETH?

Are there ways to submit requests for certain types of code? For example, if I'm not much of a coder and I need someone to develop something.

Would this be considered one of the bounties you mentioned that you can pay people in DCO for? If so, that's a really great feature to have.

I've studied the road map and I'm pleased to see that the work will be done in a short time, compared to other projects.

Great question! Yes, you get rewarded by paying in DCO.

An additional incentive to keep in mind if you have any projects ready to put on the testnet: (from our whitepaper)
Developers and other community advocates who join the testnet and are active will be put on a special whitelist that enables them to receive a discount at the time of the Token Generation Event (TGE). Our hope is that the entire token allocation for the TGE is taken by developers who are active on our testnet.

How did the team come up with this project? What is the main goal you guys hope to accomplish with Deconet?
Hi! Deconet is part of a movement to make open source a more viable career path. I would recommend taking a look at this latest article that explains very well how/why we want to solve for this problem. https://medium.com/deconet/the-new-deal-for-the-open-source-community-92567f68f3a3. Additionally, this deep dive video interview with one of the co-founders, David Sneider, should give you a great overview as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Urq97FQsvDQ

Thank You Sir for the information. this information is very useful for us. so we can understand better with this project. hopefully this project has a bright future. Grin Cheesy

Yes, absolutely. We are also promoting a sharing bounty program at the moment, which might be what you have been hearing more mentioned at this stage. You can start earning Deconet tokens today by joining our bounty program. You can get your share of the 7,500,000 DCO token pool for engaging on social media, creating content, and sharing Deconet with your friends: http://bounty.deco.network

Also, don't forget to join our Telegram channel of http://t.me/deco_network!

How does your team feel about ETHs big drop (and cryptocurrency in general)? Do you think it's temporary and that people just need to catch up to the tech?
I won't speak on behalf of the team, but I personally think the value of ETH and others will be realized as more understand its potential. We're focused on the utility of building on blockchain to solve for a need we see right now in the tech community. Would love for you to join the conversation on our Telegram channel.

What is the most interesting project you have seen on Deconet so far?
One of the projects that's pretty cool is a mobile DApp browser. It's like an open source version of chipher wallet. I would encourage you to sign up for our alpha testnet and explore all the modules posted so far, or submit a project yourself - we are always looking for more! Vote or let us know on Telegram http://t.me/deco_network which you find most interesting.

That is a really cool project. Thanks for sharing. There are definitely some good projects, even in this early stage. That's very promising. I'll definitely be exploring the different projects and will vote. Thanks Smiley

Once you purchase some open source code, can you then alter it? I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the details.

Restrictions will differ by license, but the value of open source code lies with your ability to use it and modify it to fit your specific needs. Some examples of the process can be found in this article. Also, please make sure to join our Telegram for updates.

Thanks for the link. I think it's definitely people needing to catch up and it is only a matter of time. I think with good solutions such as deconet, people will start to see the beauty of the blockchain.

How successful has the bounty campaign been so far? Are you getting a lot of interest? It's one of the better bounties I've seen.
