I am an absolute beginner in investing in Bitcoin and alternative Coins, but I found an ICO that sounds interesting for me. It's about the Cultural Coin, I guess one of the first cryptocurrencies here in Austria: https://www.culturalplaces.com

There are only 4 days left for Phase 1 of the ICO and I'm interested in participating. Do you have any advice and tips for me?

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

To participate in an ICO, you need cryptocurrencies, usually Ether or Bitcoin. You cannot participate in an ICO with fiat currency. If you don’t own cryptocurrency, you will first need to buy some. The best way to purchase significant amounts of Bitcoin is through online exchanges. Transfer money from your bank account to your newly created account with a cryptocurrency exchange.Transfer your Coins from the Exchange to a Blockchain Wallet you Control. Then go to  https://www.culturalplaces.com or any other desired ICO offering sites and contribute.

ORayjA0's explanation is on the point and explains everything re: the process itself. Smiley

If you just found out about the project i would just advise you to read the Whitepaper first:
https://www.culturalplaces.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/CulturalPlaces_Whitepaper.pdf?x46035

Otherwise..the ICO is split into several different phases and each one offers different conditions for buying coins.

Does this mean that the earlier the phase, the cheaper you can buy coins? I'm also a beginner and would like to make smart decisions with my investments.

From the observation I joined the ICO is not always profitable even not a few who suffered losses because choose the wrong ICO. Of course, before joining ICO we have to look at the planing of the company that held ICO, and when we have decided to buy ICO tokens, of course we have to wait for the Token has a more expensive price than ICO, because at the beginning of the token launch usually a decrease in the price of tokens even exceed ICO prices.

thank you

Most large ICOs are currently conducted on the Ethereum platform and, accordingly, raise funds in ETH, so first of all you must purchase the air. You can do this by converting other crypto-currencies in ETH through the exchange, and then send your crypto-currencies to any ethereal purse that supports ERC20 tokens.

Yes, you are correct - the earlier the better for your purse...AFTER checking if the offer is legit. Re: the Cultural Coin, you should be fine. Whitepapers are usually a good way to find out which companies and projects are serious. Ofc all of us want to make smart decisions, haha and the market is atm booming. Wink

Read often the announcement thread for altcoin. Alternatively you can join forums that discuss ico on telegrams, check ICO calenders and follow some rating spreadsheet. It might demand some document base on the project for ICO registration but be careful of scammers

Heading to your question, you can find an instruction on how to participate on ICO directly at their site. On the site you have mentioned just clicked "Participate Now" and follow instructions. Same goes to other ICO.

My advice, be sure to understand the risks of investing on ICO before throwing away money. Be vigilant when choosing a project or if you don't know what you are really doing then better refrain from investing for the meantime until you become educated about how ICO works.

Here is an ICO project I believe in. Their aim is to bring the masses into crypto which will benefit us all. As many other most reputable ICO's you would need to buy Ether first as they accept Eth as they are an ERC 20 token.

Participating in ICo is not always profitable.

Yeah, not all of them, i give you that - but it also depends on the available bounties, the long-term stability and the broader acceptance of the project itself. After all, besides Bitcoin, many projects (like this cultural coin schupp asked about) are created to find specific solutions for existing problems. Wink

Thank you, that was very helpful for me! On the homepage of Cultural Places I found some helpful information for people like me who have never taken part in an ICO before. There is a very good step by step explanation beginning from how to get Ether and an Ethereum Wallet. I think this could also be helpful for beginners who are generally interested in ICOs

That's actually the point why I believe that the Cultural Coin is going to be sucessful. Because it is creating a solution for the cultural sector so that prices for customers will get cheaper and also the providers will get more, because there is no more need for ticketing agencys.

just to add some weight without making your contribution irrelevant.
There are ICOs that allow or accept fiat too. I have invested in a few of those and you just pay direct from your bank in FIAT

As another poster said, you'll need some crypto, most likely ETH. You can purchase some using an exchange. Learn about what a crypto transaction entails, I highly suggest you take the tutorial for the exchange you decide on. It's important to take these steps because you will be sending your eth to the ICO's wallet address. It'll be one of the first transactions you take part in. Note, however, that you will most likely not receive your ICO tokens immediately after your payment as it usually takes up until the public sale is closed for ICO's to distribute tokens to investors. There should be some sort of disclosure of this in a confirmation email. We cover everything you need to know about participating in an ICO in our blog, check it out if you want to learn more! http://[Suspicious link removed]/ICOGuide

Cheers!
