ICO is the abbreviation of Initial Coin Offering. It means that someone offers investors some units of a new cryptocurrency or crypto-token in exchange against cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or Ethereum. Since 2013 ICOs are often used to fund the development of new cryptocurrencies.

ico is very useful to get funds to develop projects that will run. with the presence of ico can be used as a venue to attract investors to invest in capital and finance. so ico is very useful for financial problems.

yes, ICO helps promote altcoin and the platform to be spread on the exchange. so it can help the crypto world always exist.

I think, a good ICO, is a success in the sale of tokens or altcoins.
Initial Coin Offering(ICO), is a way of using an invesments for the project of investors they build up by means of exchanging the cryptocurrency to coins with this, the banks gaining profit from here, and ICO helps promoting altcoin...

Easily speaking ICO's are projects that are newly created or noticed and emerging there the project's that need to be supported by investors for them to launch their developed or created project. They opened their project in public to gain publicity and to be notice by us(investors) to help them gather their soft cap price(pirce needed for their ICO to be launch) and able to released their project.

Initial Coin Offering or ICO is a fundraising tool in which new projects sell their crypto tokens and these quickly became effective topic of discussion in the blockchain community. But ICO's are barely regulated, so a detailed research is needed before investing in it because cryptocurrency is high risk but with high reward.

For beginners, it may help to you to understand what is ICO

An initial coin offering (ICO) is a controversial means of crowdfunding centered around cryptocurrency, which can be a source of capital for startup companie. In an ICO, a quantity of the crowdfunded cryptocurrency is preallocated to investors in the form of "tokens", in exchange for legal tender or other cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin or ethereum. These tokens supposedly become functional units of currency if or when the ICO's funding goal is met and the project launches.

ICOs provide a means by which startups avoid costs of regulatory compliance and intermediaries, such as venture capitalists, bank and stock exchanges, while increasing risk for investors.ICOs may fall outside existing regulations or may need to be regulated depending on the nature of the project, or are banned altogether in some jurisdictions, such as China and South Korea.

DEFINITION of 'Initial Coin Offering (ICO)'
An unregulated means by which funds are raised for a new cryptocurrency venture. An Initial Coin Offering (ICO) is used by startups to bypass the rigorous and regulated capital-raising process required by venture capitalists or banks. In an ICO campaign, a percentage of the cryptocurrency is sold to early backers of the project in exchange for legal tender or other cryptocurrencies, but usually for Bitcoin.

ICO is the abbreviation of initial coin offering, one way to raise money from the public, which is basically similar to IPO.
However, the difference is IPO mainly focuses on raising fiat money which are subject to government regulation and  supervision.
While there are no clear regulation for cryptocurrency, it's relatively easier to raise money based on ICO.

ICOs are easy to structure because of technologies like the ERC20 Token Standard, which abstracts a lot of the development process necessary to create a new cryptographic asset. Most ICOs work by having investors send funds (usually bitcoin or ether) to a smart contract that stores the funds and distributes an equivalent value in the new token at a later point in time.

May be it is also necessary to write about DAICO, which was created by one russian boy as a new ICO model)? To my mind it is better, because investors can control the process and return some part of their money in any case.

ICOs are similar to IPOs and crowdfunding. Like IPOs, a stake of the startup or company is sold to raise money for the entity’s operations during an ICO operation. However, while IPOs deal with investors, ICOs deal with supporters that are keen to invest in a new project much like a crowdfunding event. But ICOs differ from crowdfunding in that the backers of the former are motivated by a prospective return in their investments, while the funds raised in the latter campaign are basically donations. For these reasons, ICOs are referred to as crowdsales.
