Yes, you are right,  some Altcoins are worth nothing, I have alot of them in my Imtoken wallets  just  there with no value. Even some that are listed have remained on 1 or 2 gwei which is as good as worthless. Some Altcoins even  the developers have given up on their coins.

I think you are referring to a no good alts, that is why it is considered zero because it has no value and you cannot earn profit even you invest a big amount.

There is too many number coin/token in market. Some of them having same project. Many good coin in market makes competition more fair and market will decide which coin/token will survive and can give profits to their investor

A lot are actually just out to raise money through ICOs and then disappear or even dump their own tokens on the market .some give some crappy products as their deliverable from the white paper and investors end up losing  money
