Yes, this is the root cause of the current market decline. The market has recovered its ideal and people no longer blindly buy shit coin. They are beginning to understand whether this project is a good project.

Based on that most of these coins won’t go up to the highs they have seen before.

Of course not rise, most people in the market speculators and they need money, coins that go down forget about them and they are unlikely to have risen to their tops, better keep the top they are more reliable

Even if the coin is being traded, its price is sometimes so low that it is better to forget it in your wallet.  This whole situation is killing the market.

I kinda agree. Based on what I have noticed, the hype will only happen on the first day of listing and there is no followup from developers to make their coin better. This is the reason why the prices keeps on dropping because of the fact that the coin is not needed or low demand for the coin. I hate it when the money of investors goes to waste but there is nothing I can do about it.

I un-ignored the altcoin section briefly because I had to see if I could check a member's older posts in sections that I have on ignore, and stumbled upon this thread.  Here are some of the first posts I've seen thus far, and these are why this section needs heavy moderation:

This is true for many of the coins.  There is no need to have multiple coins that accomplish the same thing.  Only time will show the real winners.

Responding to OP:  I wouldn't buy $5 worth of most altcoins if you had a gun to my head.  Bitcoin hasn't even made much progress as far as merchants accepting it, and it still remains mainly a plaything of speculators.  And shitcoins?  IF people are speculating in them, i.e., pumping and dumping them, that's all they're ever going to be good for.  And eventually people are going to figure out that they're not worth owning at all--not for the short-term, not for the long-term. 

They're not going to get used for anything, and anyone can create a new altcoin so there's no scarcity value in addition to lack of utility.  They're fucking doomed, but the market insanity hasn't died down yet.

There are too many Altcoin in the market, and most are junk and do not really solve any problems. In addition, many development teams have dropped their coin. It is these things that reduce the value of the coin and the confidence of investors.

You are right, they want just money and then there is nothing, we dont know what their developers are doing or are they working we dont know, generally they are collecting money and being rich so they dont need anything to do.

I think regulations played some huge part, even though there are a lot scam in the space, there are still some few very good projects out there, I think most investors are now afraid of regulations hitting their investment and much no longer invest.

Many are worth nothing and many are very overpriced but not at all. Of course, some projects do not yet have a product but they can also release a product and grow in price it's all a matter of time. Not all projects are as bad as you think.

It was obvious before. As for me, half of the coins from the first 100 are worth nothing. Of course, many investors entered these high-hype coins that were associated with the ICO. Now they understood it, but it's too late. Some of them have lost huge funds.

Lol the sad truth is that, some projects are actually scam, all the plans on paper do not come to reality. Some developers even dump their own coins or tokens, making it worthless.  The real projects do not need hype from paid reviewers, they launched their product, and it's backing it with great team effort. Let's look forward to a better crypto space in future anyway.

In my opinion, the cryptocurrency market fell not because of altcoins, but because of bitcoin, and more specifically due to the fact that it rose very sharply in price last December to $ 20,000. If the market did not have a hard price dominance of Bitcoin, then the Altcoins would continue to develop and grow in price. Of course, the promising projects of altcoins continue to develop and in the current state of the cryptocurrency market, despite the fact that Bitcoin drove their price to almost zero. Because the majority of projects are scam and there are no real developers behind them. We should be very selective with projects where we take part to stop feeding such projects that are going live on one exchange and forgetting about the investors.

Most alts are worth nothing some are just run by hype nothing else, you should pick altcoins that has real world usecase and can generate revenue for long term value
