This was the discussion topic we were having last night, a bunch of gambling friends and one of them an expecting dad. There were counter arguments that his child also would turn out a gambler like he is.

The arguments were that it is his in his gene and that'll pass on to his child, since every one in his family was a gambler.

The counter argument was that the child would make a logical decision and genes won't play any part in this.

Which brought us to another important question what if turns out a gambler would they both play together. Would he be comfortable?

Amid this he walked out and texted me he didn't wish to gamble anymore, so wanted your views on this.
There are some things that genes can play a part it but i don't think that gambling is one of them. But the child can indeed gamble or do things if he/she reguarly see the parents doing because they want to copy them most and be like their parents most of them. So by quitting, the parent is making a positive decision for himself and for his children.

Genes are actually connected with the medical diagnoses like schizophrenia and gambling as an addiction has not one role in the genes transfer to the children. There are few gamblers which are gambling for the joy.

Most of the percent is gambling for the profit and a large percentage of those that are gambling for the money can be influential for their children. Their habits can be passed to the children if these parents have bad raising methods. Habits are collected through the life.

The parents have a big role in the habits; Another big role has the society in which the children are circulating. Parent don't have to quit the gambling; they should just lower the influence of heir bad habits to their children by not showing the same.

You will never be a parent anymore to your kids if you are an addict to gambling. Because you cannot have time for your family. You only think about how you gambling. You don't have time anymore for your family. Because your time is focus on gambling. Even your money is in gambling. It might bring you to a miserable life. That will destroy your family relationships.

First of I want say that I agree with those who said that inclination to gambling can't be inherent. Secondly, kids when they grow up tend to behave in contradiction to what their parents do. For example if parents smoke their kids don't smoke and vice versa. I know there are other opinions on this, but that's what I know from my experience. From what you have written I have an impression that your friends were joking mostly and also that none of you is actually an addicted gambler. And that's a good thing. Keep it healthy, guys. Gambling can be fun if you don't let it ruin your life.

In many cases children don't follow parents patterns when they see it in a negative way, in a traumatic way. For an example: If the child has negative memories about the parents drunken, he will probably stay away from alcohol. The same can happen about gambling, but if there aren't negative memories about parents + gambling, there are higher chances this child will gamble too.

But we can't predict it, the child may gamble or may not gamble, it's a surprise and everything parents can do is to be prepared to deal with this situation better as possible if it happens.

When you become a dad, you are no longer responsible for yourself but for another human being exactly and the first role model that child will have is the dad, the first hero that child will have is the dad, the first person he would want to become before being conscious of his own identity is the dad which means those things that you wouldn't want your child to take from you, you will drop it and yes being a parent can change a gambler.

I have seen chronic drinkers whose all emissary to stop drinking fell on deaf hears but the thought of his son seeing him do all sought reset his thinking faculty to a moderate taker of alcohol same goes for every social habit we pick up during our adolescence age. However, this will only be applicable to someone who has the consciousness of being responsible with which without that, what gives him joy is his priority and nobody else matter.

I actually think thiscould go either way. If you become a parent,  it could activate your gambler genes even more and you start gambling more to try to win a jackpot for your kid out of necessity

In a way it could change a parent that had bad gambling habits to be more of a responsible person as he/she would now know that his life is no longer about his or her selfish desires, they will have to play lesser and pay more attention to the new introduction of the family and plan how to manage their resources.

Hard to answer mate. When my first child was born, I totally quit gambling, but started to come back again. Same as when my 2nd child as well. So personally, I will say that once a child is born, it will somewhat have a positive impact and you might forgot about your gambling habits.

But I admit that I'm addicted gambler so I don't have control. The main thing here is that you still have the responsibility to handle and bring food in the table before you go on your gambling sessions.

it must happen, especially if the child always watches the father gamble,, in addition to flowing in his genes, this happens because ,, the moment of gambling recorded clearly in his memory so that will be brought into his life

Which brought us to another important question what if turns out a gambler would they both play together. Would he be comfortable?
anyone will never feel comfortable if gambling with family ,, unless the whole family is a gambling enthusiast

The genes of becoming a gambler is not being transferred or pass to the child. A Gambler is the act of playing gambling which stands with you and it involves money, fun or either a want to play. It everyones choice if you saw how father a gambler or a businessman but the child don't wants it. Trust me its going to work and it is how you build train the child.

the role of parents is very influential on the development of children, when children begin to enter gambling we can not blame the child, we see first how parents educate him, if the main education to be given to children, maybe the child will not misplaced to gamble, because in moral pensidika is the main

It's not being transferred, but for sure it can be adopted by their child, as parents is the best example in their eyes, so whatever they seen from them
they will think that it's good and it will developed inside their minds, being a responsible parents we should not gamble with the fate of our kids, instead
of letting them see us gamble, better to be more discreet if we can't quit,.

It is not correct because if that is the case all doctors, engineers or scientist kids should become doctors, engineers or scientist. Is that happening? NO.

If you gamble in front of your kids then they will also pick up the same habit so you should do only good things when your kids are around you.

The most important thing for kids is their surrounding environment. If they grow up in a good environment then they will become good person even though they are son or daughter of the addicted gamblers.

There would be a lot of factors concerning a parent who would have a kid, but in my opinion, it would be really life-to change. I don't have a child yet but thinking about it, my priorities would change, especially when you talk about your child and the schooling and necessities that you child needs would be the first one. There would be no time to gamble and in everything, the best part of life would be having a family, not gambling.

As for your friend, I hope he does well with his child in the future. Probably be like close friends and gamble together. That would be fun.
Gambling may not be a hereditary trait of course. But if you want to make a model to your future sons and daughters, better to stop gambling anymore. So he did only the right thing.Parenting could be somehow difficult at first but i know it will be learned.Yes it's really a life-changing experience.Hard but fulfilling inside.
I agree that it's not hereditary but thinking about it your children or your child has your DNA and the wirings would be the same. I'm not an expert in any science that deals with DNA but most likely what the parent has gone through would be someone be in line or has a similarity.

it depend on their childs themself and there is no guarantee if their parents gamblers then their childs also will being the gamblers too but indeed environment will greatly affect for the child's growth and mental because if the childs grow in the middle of the gamblers then possibility to them following parents habit will be pretty high

Depends on the person.  I have seen people from being single to becoming parents stay the same.  They still see gambling as their entertainment and does not even stopped even with their kids around.  Worst, even if their financial capability is weak, they nevere stopped gambling.  Probably they have not realized that they need to stop spending money on their gambling vices and focus on their children more.

Gambling is a habit, it's not a  disease so it can't pass to next generation by genes, and I think as a parent, he should become a role model and stop gambling, because the child could follow the parent step to gamble and it's not good for children, so if the parent want to gamble he should do it secretly

Gambling is not in your genes so it is not necessary that it will transfer to his child too but it may transfer if his child living with the dad and seeing the gambling always maybe if his dad is successful in gambling and made lots of money from gambling then there is no doubt in that son also will follow him but if he lost all his assets in gambling then his son never want to gamble.

People who have lost money and after they becoming the parent if they know that responsibility on them has now increased and they cannot make any more loses in gambling as they have to spend extra on their child now so the chances are their that the person may either try to quit or reduce the number of visits to casino for gambling.
