Before investing or participating any project make sure you have done the proper research about the project team, their interactions with know people. And most importantly from where team based.

Mostly every new ICOs have their group on telegram as a medium for their token sale & to discuss their project. So first, you find a link to their telegram group on their official website, join it & ask admin regarding their office address where it is registered? Ask about team members developers, managers & mostly CEO, do a search on google or on social media platform do these people even exist? Does their CEO comes forward & show himself discussing & promoting his project on live conferences, social media & involve in discussion to answer your question on telegram group. Another important do they have an actual working product that solves the real problem & has they partnered with some potential clients or not? If all factors not convinced you then probably it is a scam.

You'll probably get the same response here - which is you do your research, read the whitepaper, and only then invest accordingly. Sounds simple but that's because it is and often works.

It's not easy to stay away from scam ICO project. Not only newbie can be scammed but also professional investors also can be scammed by ICO project ). Maybe you've heard about Denaro ICO project, everyone thought that it's a legit one and very truthworthy that why there are a lot of investors invested in Denaro ICO project but after that all of them get scammed . Sometime it depend on your experience, skills and knowledge but sometime you need to be lucky

A good start to avoiding being scammed is to be skeptical of everything. When you get an email immediately doubt the sender, check the address of the sender and don't click any links from it. Use bookmarks to ensure you don't get phished and do thorough research of every project you want to invest in.

It can happen to anyone of us the thing is,its unavoidable because these ICOs are unregualted, part of decentralized community of us that is why these hackers are doing their best to get those investments from newbie investors. To lessen the risk of getting sscam you should do a lot of research regarding the team,if someone is hiding their identity its a scam surely.

The best way to stay away of scam is to check everything you can. And if you don't like something, just don't do it. I don;t give them a free pass. I have my checklist and if a project fails on any of the checkpoints, I pass it.

Their sole idea is to make profit and provide marketing services for ICOs, not to give you good advice nor provide investment consultation - this is the most correct fact

I haven't really read about researching where the team is based? What's your experience with locations in that regard?

Indulge yourself with knowledge, when I said knowledge you read? What would you read? The past and histories of the coins that have made it so far. What have they done to reach this height? You can read the past announcements of ICO that are now succesful, and you could see for yourself, track and compare them to what are they have in common. Well that is if you are talking about ICO, but I bet yes since scams lately are most probably the cause of ICO. Don't trust too much, be careful out there.

If you don't know how to determine whether an ICO is real or scam and you read their papers and it seems legit just check the person's behind the project, research on them and you will see some are really expert on their field, on bitcoin things, and check also some feedback of their projects.

You cannot avoid these scams especially when these people are doing it for a living, because these are professionals and you cannot see all the possible redflags from these ICOs,even those good looking team and websites sometimes are using fake profiles and you wont know what will happen to the campaign because nobody can tell whom or which one will scam people.

It is necessary to check whether the company was exposed to an open audit. It is a good way to prove that the company has sufficient funds. Analyze the transparency and quality of the company's business processes. Don`t deal with exchanges and other companies that are not able to show their transparency and solvency.

Before investing in ICO, find it in debates on bitcointalk.org. If the topic is not on the forum or the ratings of the rating users are mostly negative, it is better not to contact the project. Use services like ICOtracker and ICOrating. They can find all the information about the current ICO, the dynamics of their indicators and key events associated with the start-up. But it's best to just choose projects that work with smart contracts. And to diversify its crypto-currency portfolio, that is, to invest in several different ICOs. This will reduce risks and increase the chances of profit.

Do some research. Educate yourself. Get a complete information about the product, team, work progress, future business plans and legal authority of ICO before investing. Just do you own research and don't rely on other people's opinions.

I think that there will be less SCAMs now. There're hunders of ICOs now and most of them don't even reach their soft cap. I've heard that it costs about $300k to organize a SCAM project. And as the number of investors is decreasing it'll be very hard to raise even such sum. In other words it won't be profitable to hold a SCAM project.

to completely protect yourself from the scam - do not participate in projects at all. If you have decided to participate in ico or buying tokens on the exchange, then be prepared for any situation. One of the options to protect yourself from scam - study the leaders of the company, their authority and status.
