Yes this may be so. They often attract a lot of subscribers. And thus want to show that they are very popular and thus attract investors from scratch.

Hi everybody,
Lately I am reading a lot of posts asking: is this airdrop a scam? Is that free ICO a scam?
So I am wondering how can something that doesn't cost you a penny be a scam. Sure, they get your email adress and maybe a ETH Adress, but how can you  really be scamed with only this informations? I am not talking about airdrops that require kyc registration, that for sure can be dangerous.
Cheers,

Scam will mean loss of your time at least in described situation. You also lost your faith into crypto when taking part in scam airdrop an waiting for reward for forever.

You're talking about ICO scam and not something free, maybe for those of you who just participate in their campaigns say it's something for free, but for investors it's not free.

Scam doesn't only mean that it cost money to take away, sometimes you made an effort by putting your personal information and register to their form for hoping that you will get the free airdrop coin but you get nothing in return. They can use your personal information into illegal actions or something for selling

At my opinion, nothing is free. Example with Facebook, Google and some corporations social like this. Them create a platform for you and community, but them have a information of you, using this for ads and some think can get back money. The best case is airdrop token can listed a exchange and have a value, if else it not have value, this is trash

If the team/devs promised you something and they never had the intention of giving you anything back, then it can be considered a scam. Most of the airdrops require you to join their telegram and then the developers of the token can advertise that their telegram channel has over 5k members and so on. This builds awareness of the product and sometimes they take the money and run and the airdrop never happens or bounties are not paid out.

Yes, an airdrop can be a scam and many have been in the past.  The initial airdrop may be free but then if the team cons you into believing that the project will be developed and be a success and you end up buying up much more tokens, you have been scammed.  Also, they can send you emails trying to scam you out of your holdings.

When I first got into cryptos I thought all airdrop were a scam. Now I know not all are, but there are many are. Look at each project with more than an ounce of skepticism.

Most airdrops are spam.  Good airdrops are an exception to the rules).  Many try to cheat by asking your email address.  Then they can use it to send spam or phishing.  Others - want to know your secret key from MEV, hoping for inexperience or for beginners.

airdrop can be a scam like you said and we have see this many times before. but it's not all of airdrop is scam because I am sure that there are any good airdrop that will bring some profits to us. I see that many people can get their profits by joining many airdrops and I think they can try with many airdrops.

They may not literally mean like scam wherein they get your money but since you are giving away your wallet address, there is a possibility they won’t give you the coin or that coin may not have any value omce you have them. Still considered as scam though.

There are many scam ICOs and airdrops on the crypto market. So you should do a good research before you join the ICO.

Sure! Some days ago i read a story about one man who received a email with ethereum adress and private key. There are a lot of tokens on this wallet, so this man will transfer his 0,2 ether to this adress and lose his money, because all this tokens together with eth were transfered to another adress automatically. Undecided

Fraud can be any project. Even that has passed all the tests. What prevents great team to simply collect all the money and running. So there is need to know the history of the team and the predisposition to such methods.

airdrop does not seem to be a scam
it all goes back to the developers how they determine it
it's just that it takes a long time if airdrop because it is offered at the beginning of the launch
which can be said scam you just do not spend any money and do not lose too if it is really a scam no problem of course
