It isn't going to be run on the blockchain. It will be funded by the pigeon blockchain. By doing this they say personal data will never be sold and burnt every so many days.

yes the devs left.
Its upto the community to develop the application and website.
App was supposed to launch in Q4 it may not launch untill next year.

To make things clear PigeonCoin is not a scam. The head dev. had to slow down the work due to devs leaving due to lack of funds. He is making this project community project. Don't PANIC!!

Pigeon doesn't need to be scam in order to fall bellow 1 satoshi. PGN has problems same like other similar coins - low or non existing adoption combined with the bear market. Good arguments for PGN are 100% PoW, no premine and fact that it is first x16s coin. On the other side, there's no real usage of this coin. Emmision is too big, total supply is 21 billion with 7.2 million PGN created every day. It's hard to find so much buyers on daily basis.

We can compare PGN with RVN , since RVN has same total supply and same inflation (7.2 mil coins created daily). It's obv that RVN hold its price very well in this bear market and reason is that RVN has big development team, supported by few big crypto-names and companies. Investors believe that RVN will deliver good product with all developers and money invested in it, so they buy RVN. That's what PGN need (and every other small coin) - big name or company with money behind it ... OR big support of good developers willing to work voluntarily like BTC has. Ofcourse it's hard... very hard... for 99% of coins. It's like in real life. When you have big daddy to give you millions, it's easy to start good bussiness, but when you are broke and need to start from zero, it's "little bit" harder.

I began mining Pigeon initially and tracked progress closely for the first three months on Discord and by listening in on some of the calls that the dev hosted.  In my opinion this coin is most definitely NOT a scam.  However, I sold my holdings and moved because it's a bad business idea.  Bad is different from scammy.

Why is it a bad business plan?

Obviously this is just my opinion, but the PGN plan to start a new social network is an also-ran and one of the most heavily tested models for failure in Silicon Valley.  Social networks are a "winner takes all" proposition for their market (e.g., Facebook--personal; LinkedIn--professional; AngelList--investors, etc).  There could be room for another but it needs to be funded, and importantly, driven by an executive that knows how to build a social network.  The devs here are well-intentioned (and principled) engineers, but that's different than being a good businessperson.  Choosing to build another social network is a bad business plan.

I root for this team, but not investing in it.

We would like to discuss the current state of the project with all of our followers.

Over the last few months we have worked on many things including the website, roadmap, multiple wallet updates, and our latest achievement the LWMA Algo for consistent 1 min block times. From the first day the project was released the main core team put in hundreds of hours in each month. After a few months we were exhausted. A few members decided they needed to take breaks and move on. We then brought in some of our ambassadors to help with marketing and keep daily operations going. We've also found out that it's rather difficult to find people who are able to put in full time hours to work on Pigeoncoin in this current market. We're now at a crossroads, what is the best way for us to proceed as we embark on our next achievement: creating the Pigeon App? We've decided that from here on out we should become 100% community driven. The project is shifting from a for profit social media network to a community run open source project. This means we will be doing a few things: 1) Current Members will reduce hours. 2) Removing the Team section on the website. 3) Removing all private channels in the Discord Server. 4) Creating new public channels for all aspects of development. 5) Opening up all recent work and making it available on github. 6) Becoming Public about all of our intentions. 7) Letting any new member be a part of what is happening. Creating lead roles for people to get questions answered in each channel. And many more things...
We want to give a fair voice to all supporters of pigeoncoin. We want our successes and failures to be as a community. Going forward everything will be public and 100% opensource and community driven. We will all be ambassadors of this coin. A true coin by the people and for the people.

So what does this mean for the pigeoncoin app? Simple any developer, designer, supporter wanting to be a part of what is happening can come into the public channels, go to the open source github and start helping. You can help design the app, coin and software any way you like. Give it new features and make it your own. We also encourage you to purchase pigeoncoin at the great low price it is today and hold onto it, your investment is now literally in your hands.

So as we make this transition, if you are interested in any kind of development, design, marketing outreach or any kind of other support make sure you keep an eye on the new channels and start actively participating. Also if you know of anyone who may want to join a community project please point them our way. We are always actively looking to get new members that can help us move forward.

First community vote!

A lot of discussion has been taking place in our Discord about how to fund development of our back end infrastructure now that we are a completely community run coin rather than a for profit organisation.

Our proposal of introducing a block reward developer fee needs to be voted on by the community. Some suggested a 1% fee while many suggested a 5% fee. Coins with dev fees built into their block reward tend to range from 3% to 13%. Many feel 1% would not be enough and suggest 5%.

5% is modest in my opinion so I have voted for 5% as a necessity for the future success of the coin. We hope to attract more developers who are inspired by the open source and decentralised proposal for a social media platform free from the sale of user data. While this motivation is a start, the reality is that funds will need to be available to pay for the dev work to be done.

At the current price of Pigeoncoin, 1% would be roughly $5000 per year, whereas 5% would be about $25000 a year.
