Just my opinion, but fining a scam casino and it's operators is a completely different thing from going after them and getting them into account by some actual theft and fraud charges.
Perhaps that is why they decided to vanish completely and change their name, because they don't have any intention to pay those fines, so they declared themselves to be done on paper, so they can avoid paying those fines and continue to scam people by using a completely different name and brand (but keeping the same interface, since they are basically the same people and the same business model).
I believe they are the same people because the shutting down of Freebitcoin and opening of Drop BTC seem to be rather more than a coincidence.

Or may be it's someone who's grabbing this opportunity to lure the users from freebitco.in to their scam site.
May be their whole intent is to scam those users while using the same interface as freebitco.in.
I don't think freebitco.in owners would be so stupid to use the same interface if their sole intent is to scam the users.

Well, to me that theory does not make much sense at all. Because people who get scammed off their money do not immediately seek other services in order to continue to risk whatever they have left, you know?
Usually, people who have been scammed feel bad about themselves, depressed and helpless, it is a mental state which does not invite to continue to gamble or participate in lotteries like those being offered by Freebitcoin clones.

I still believe those are the same people who scammed our and other communities with their silly FUN token and also took millions in BTC.

It’s a shame about this site—given how important it was to this forum and to the history of Bitcoin—to end up like this. This reminds me of 1xBit; I’m not exactly sure if they’ve had similar clone sites over the years like in this case, but they’ve for sure used similar tactics to lure in unsuspecting users. They set up a site, and once it’s clear it’s a scam, they either launch another one or spend a fortune on ads for new sites to attract fresh, unsuspecting victims to fleece.
It's a shame for sure, but I couldn't care less about how they ended up when there are so many of their victims out there who ended up in far, far worse situations. 1xbit was a scam site from the get go though they had 1xbet's backing and that helped them immensely.

Am just hoping sites like Polymarket etc don't go down the same route in the future due to various reasons.

Freebitco.in was the last time I invested Bitcoin in third party platforms for interest. Thankfully I didn't lose anything this time, because I cashed out funds at the first signal there was something wrong going on, but if I had delayed a little more, I would have lost a very considerable portion of my holdings. It made me realize nothing in this internet is safe at all as even a reputable website which was working nicely for more than 10 years ended up in a scam scandal.

They can already survive for many years if they just run a honest business with their existing gamblers and also with their community.

But they choose to be an evil here, then decide to take all the money of their depositor.

This incident gives us a reminder that even if they are already old or big platform, there's till tendencies that they might turn scam.

1xbet is always brought up as example and I understand why people always remember them here, since they really made a huge scam to lots of people here.

On polymarket case, much better to make the situation happen between those two scam side as reminder not to fully trust them with their huge funds. So deposit only what they can afford to lose or bet on that day to avoid same issues with existing victims of 1xbet and freebitco.in.

I am not sure how it would be possible for Polymarket to committ such huge mistakes so they would find themselves in a situation and start to scam their clients and traders.
Though, I believe the lesson to learnt from all this situation with Freebitcoin, is how no service or company is too big to fail.
They had a lot of money, reputation and recognition, in the same manner prediction markets have today and they managed to blew it all for their greed and because they did not want to adopt a better business model in the long term.

In the end, we need to keep our coin in our wallets and safeguard our own coins, never to use casinos and prediction markets as a wallet .

I don't think freebitco.in owners would be so stupid to use the same interface if their sole intent is to scam the users.

There are copycats that pop up every now and then. They usually disappear after a few months. There was this Ponzi scheme in 2020 that was offering 18% monthly interest and they had almost the exact same interface as FreeBitco.in.

Copying the look of another website is very easy, especially now with AI coding tools. My intuition is that DropBTC is probably an unrelated scam.
